Job Description

Job Description:

Location: Toulouse (Saint Martin), France

Type of contract: CDI-C till the end of February 2028 (the contract is linked to the deliverable of the demonstrator)

Starting ASAP

Airbus UpNext is designed as a talent incubator: we act fast, take risks, and we disrupt the status quo, while building on the strong expertise of Airbus. Currently, we're building a strategic demonstrator that will define the future of Aircraft Connectivity .

We aren't just looking for an Application Lead; we’re looking for a pioneer. You’ll have the agility of a startup founder with the backing of the global leader. If you want to build high-stakes tech that actually takes flight, your boarding pass is waiting!

Your Mission: The Interface of Innovation

As the Application SW Development Lead, you are the bridge between complex data and the end-user. You will be a hands-on technical driver, responsible for designing and deploying the applications that bring our connectivity demonstrator to life.

What You’ll Own:

  • Full-Stack Pioneering: You’ll lead the definition and development of software applications using modern web frameworks, processing diverse data streams into intuitive, high-performing interfaces.
  • Mastering the "Offline" Challenge: In aviation, "always-on" is a goal, but "graceful offline" is a requirement. You’ll design smart application logic, local caching, and data-syncing strategies to handle intermittent connectivity without breaking a sweat.
  • High-Frequency Data: You’ll manage high-frequency telemetry data on the application side, ensuring that critical information flows smoothly from the aircraft to the user.
  • API Craftsmanship: You’ll collaborate to define efficient data payloads and API contracts, ensuring our systems talk to each other with maximum speed and minimum overhead.
  • Container-First Deployment: Using Docker and Kubernetes, you’ll ensure our software is as portable and reliable as the aircraft it supports.
  • AI-Augmented Engineering: You’ll champion the use of Claude, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor to write cleaner code faster, staying at the absolute edge of software engineering productivity.

Your Boarding Pass (Requirements)

  • The Full-Stack Expert: Deep, proven experience in software and application development.
  • Resilient Mindset: You are curious, agile, and obsessed with solving the "hard problems"-like troubleshooting complex data drops across multiple hops.
  • Connectivity Native: You understand the unique challenges of data streams and how to build applications that stay robust in fluctuating environments.
  • Tech Fluency: A natural with modern development tools and a desire to continuously evolve your stack.

Why Join the UpNext Crew?

  • 🚀 A Seat at the Table: Play a pivotal role in the "Aviation Connectivity Revolution." Your applications will be the face of a strategic Airbus mission.

  • 💎 Legacy Building: You aren't building a temporary prototype; you’re creating a high-value asset that will shape the next generation of Airbus aircraft.
  • 💡 Aerospace Edge: Gain a deep, unique background in connectivity technologies-one of the most critical and fast-growing fields in the industry.
  • đŸ€ Elite Team Culture: Work in an open-space office filled with highly skilled, fun-loving colleagues. We live by the "Care for Each Other" value.
  • ⚖ Work-Life Harmony: Craft your own calendar with flexible hours and remote work options. We care about your output, not your clock-in time.
  • ☕ The Fuel: We keep the creativity flowing with complimentary freshly ground coffee and premium beverages, plus regular community events to keep the UpNext spirit alive.

We move fast. The responsibilities and technical scope of this role will evolve as the project hits new milestones. If you’re flexible, proactive, and ready to build something that lasts, we want to hear from you.
