Job Overview
AIGL is continuing to expand its Finance team in Gibraltar and is seeking to recruit a Financial Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity within a FTSE 100 Group to help shape systems and processes and play an integral role within the Gibraltar Finance function.
Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager, this role spans all aspects of the AIGL Finance function. The successful individual will be motivated, detail‑focused and able to work effectively across multiple priorities, with strong analytical, organisational and time‑management skills and a clear focus on data quality and control. A recognised accounting qualification is required, ideally with experience of insurance accounting.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with technical insurance accounting in line with IFRS
- Prepare monthly management accounts and internal reporting to the parent company
- Lead and manage the relationship with an intermediary services provider
- Prepare regular MI and reporting for internal Boards and Committees, as well as external stakeholders
- Maintain monthly control account reconciliations
- Prepare year‑end statutory accounts and support the external audit process
- Submit ad‑hoc regulatory returns
- Liaise regularly with UK Finance teams on accounting inputs
- Provide general Finance support and complete ad‑hoc tasks as required
Essential Skills & Experience
- Currently fully residing in Gibraltar or Spain
- Qualified in a recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Strong understanding of financial controls
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently, while maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency
- Proven ability to manage and influence senior stakeholders, with the confidence to provide constructive challenge to support effective decision‑making
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience within General Insurance or the wider Financial Services sector
- Previous insurance accounting experience
