About the team
As the Adaptavist Managed Services team, we offer client-facing technical solutions at Adaptavist. Our members are based in Malaysia, the UK, the US, and Canada - we’re now looking for our latest hire to join us in Kuala Lumpur. We're constantly looking to evolve our service and strive to provide a platform for our talented colleagues to do their best work day in and day out. About the role

Adaptavist’s Managed Services team is looking for a Systems Engineer who will take responsibility for configuring and troubleshooting software and Operating Systems for clients to meet their technical requirements.
You will be working in depth administration and troubleshooting of OS, Atlassian apps, databases, backups and resolving technical issues from customers in accordance with SLAs on a day-to-day basis.
You will ensure our services are closely tailored to client needs while ensuring quality standards and acting as a point of technical and client escalation. 24/7 Shift work - 12 hours either day or night (operate work on 12 hours shift, 4 days work and 4 off, 3 days work, 3 days off) - 1 month day, 1 month night (7am/7pm)
What you'll be doing
- Providing service excellence to internal and/or external clients
- Identifying problems and the solutions to resolve them
- Listening and communicating openly, honestly, and respectfully with different audiences, promoting dialogue and building consensus
- Analyzing and synthesizing information to understand issues, identify options, and support sound decision making
- Applying methods, processes, and solutions to configure and maintain Atlassian products - with a particular focus on Jira and Confluence - and Adaptavist products across various platforms
- Using knowledge of operating systems and storage to satisfy client specifications, maintain good levels of performance/resilience and troubleshoot issues that occur
- Maintaining and configure web servers to run the Atlassian stack at the highest level of performance and reliability
- Applying knowledge of networking and security to satisfy client specification, maintain agreed levels of service and to troubleshoot network or security issues
- Applying methods, practices and policies to the design and management of databases
- Using virtualisation and cloud technologies to provide resilient performance infrastructures to support client needs
What we're looking for
- Experience delivering client-focused technical solutions
- Linux experience is a must
- Communicative experience in various formats with internal and external stakeholders
- An analytical mindset obtained from extensive hands-on experience in a technical setting.
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and interpersonal skills
- An ability to think innovatively and creatively
- Drive and aptitude to manage a broad range of responsibilities
- Able to demonstrate using multiple operating systems and installing CentOS Linux and other Linux distributions.
- Able to explain the process and need for LVM, Kernel Parameter Tuning, firewalls and mail relays
- Understand the various data types within SQL and their usage.
- Experience with web server configuration (Apache and Nginx)
- Experience with middleware systems such as Jboss, jetty, and Tomcat.
- Experienced in system monitoring (top, sar, nagios, zabbix)
- Some desirable experience would be: Atlassian accreditation and/or one or more Atlassian certifications, experience within a fast-paced, fast-growth Tech start-up environment, experience of being at the sharp end of a major Infrastructure-as-a-Service provider (ex: AWS) or ITIL certification
