Job Description

Every day, millions of people from over 190 countries trust us to handle their precious creative ideas.

Since making our name with quick & simple file-sharing, WeTransfer has evolved to help creators organize, share, and get feedback on their work – from inception right up to delivery. We showcase the best brands to more than 80 million users per month, and our editorial platform WePresent has championed unexpected stories of creativity from around the globe and features collaborations from world-famous artists, too.

Sounds like fun, right? Allow us to sweeten the deal: as a certified B Corporation, we do all of this while using business as a force for good, balancing people, the planet, and profit along the way.

In March 2020, WeTransfer was designated as a Certified B Corporation, confirming its ambition to strengthen its values-driven approach to responsible technology and business. As a certified B Corporation™, WeTransfer supports issues such as climate change by maintaining a climate-neutral status and aiming to reduce its carbon footprint by 30% by 2025. The company is also focused on promoting diversity and inclusion and championing employee mental health.

About UX Research at WeTransfer

The UX Research team is a small and resourceful team, sitting within Product Design, interested in the weird and wonderful ways creative minds work, and how they shape the world around us. Understanding our users' workflow front to back, and exploring the experience from their point of view is at the heart of what we do. The user experience is essential for our brand and how we look ahead, imagining new ways to enable people to do their best work.

About the WeTransfer product team

The WeTransfer product team is responsible for building on the success of our widely beloved file delivery service used by hundreds of millions of people each year. You’ll be joining the team at an exciting stage of new development as we build the next evolution of our service. In this role, you'll be supporting our Growth pillar as they embark on an exciting new chapter. Your research work will help demystify new audiences, uncover new features, and optimize ideas as they go to market. Examples of initiatives under the Growth umbrella are Portals, Selling on WeTransfer, while also including product onboarding and checkout optimisations.

What you'll be working on:

  • You'll be at the heart of user-centered innovation. The Growth pillar needs to make decisions based on insights, rather than a gut feeling—and that is where you come in, helping teams get to know new audiences and validate new ideas, concepts, and features.

  • You'll build upon our collective understanding of our creative audience. Every moment spent exploring the user experience gets us closer to our users' worlds, worries, and wonders. You’ll help build frameworks that enable the company to see and act differently.

  • You’ll be part of a product eco-system that is user-centered by nature. Your work will be essential in highlighting the value of research and how to leverage the collected insights.

  • You’ll have plenty of room to grow. We value trust and autonomy, and our team will always have your back. With your work, you’ll impact product roadmaps, feature direction, and design work.

What we value:

  • You are practical and hands-on. You don’t let methods define your impact. Instead, you plan your work strategically, by carefully listening and building up a solid understanding of the teams, their products or features, and their audiences.

  • You have a sharp mind with an eye for detail. You like digging, whether to get to the question behind the question of your stakeholders, or the problem behind the problem of our users. You like balancing research requests from the team with any insights gaps you spot to paint a complete picture.

  • You’re a team player with good stakeholder management and communication skills. You’ll be the lead research for three teams under the Growth pillar, and that includes managing expectations with intent.

  • You enjoy working in a growing and dynamic environment. We're a small team with big ambitions. Even though you are a researcher primarily, you don’t mind supporting the team with other tasks, such as research ops and advocacy.

And some more:

  • You have at least 5 years of relevant UX research experience in a digital product organization or agency where you have done usability tests, concept tests and/or unmoderated studies independently.

  • You're comfortable doing foundational and evaluative research, having done this many times in previous jobs, and you can run a study end-to-end independently.

  • You’re comfortable running basic surveys, and any experience running surveys with complex logic (like a segmentation survey) and/or in data analysis is a plus.

  • You’re self-critical and even though you master many methodologies, you know when (not) to apply what type of research, and how to balance agility with quality.

  • You know how to get people on board. You’re comfortable working in English and communicate clearly and to the point. You know how to make insights land with your stakeholders.

  • You can keep your agenda flexible to work with people across time zones. Our team members are in Amsterdam, London, New York, and Los Angeles, and our users are all over the world.

  • WeTransfer is part of the creative community and so are you — broadly interested in tech, culture, and the arts.

  • You are based in the Netherlands (we are open to speaking to candidates who already plan to relocate soon on their own but we do not offer relocation support for this role).
