Role Purpose:

The role is accountable for leading the engineering, delivery, and operations of Oracle OCI Cloud Managed Services and MultiDB. This role encompasses the management of cloud infrastructure, including compute resources, automation, patching, storage, backups, and security hardening. Additionally, the role will oversee support for Oracle Middleware and MultiDB (non-Oracle databases) such as MySQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
This role requires deep technical expertise and leadership to ensure the design, integration, performance, scalability, and operational excellence of Oracle OCI services meet high standards for European customers and secure Vodafone’s data while optimizing cloud costs.
The Principal Manager of Oracle Cloud Managed Servies and MultiDB will oversee the full lifecycle of Oracle OCI solutions, Middleware and MultiDB from build and design to operations, ensuring a robust, scalable, and cost-effective infrastructure. This role ensures 24x7 operational support, driving efficiency, service reliability, and high customer satisfaction.

Essence of Role – Key Accountabilities:

Own the architecture, design, and build of Oracle OCI Cloud Technologies and Middleware, such as Compute, Weblogic FSDR, backups, Storage, etc,
Own the architecture, design, and build of MultiDB for Non Oracle Databases such as MysQL, MongoDB and Cassandra across multiple environments (Cloud: OCI, AWS, Azure, GCP, On-Premise)
Make strategic decisions regarding the selection of technologies, frameworks, and design patterns that enhance the performance and scalability of Oracle OCI services across hybrid environments.
Lead the delivery of Oracle OCI solutions that align with business goals, from initial concept through to full deployment,
ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
Own decisions regarding resource allocation and prioritization of initiatives to meet business objectives effectively.
Oversee 24x7 operational support for Oracle OCI environments, Oracle Middleware, and MultiDB, ensuring high availability, incident management (Level 2/3 support), and timely problem resolution respecting agreed SLAs/OLAs.
Take ownership of decisions related to service continuity plans, escalation paths, and incident response procedures to ensure minimal downtime and optimal response times.
Design and implement scalable infrastructures that handle large volumes of data efficiently while ensuring peak performance and robustness.
Optimize all operations and services to deliver the highest quality at the lowest cost, balancing budget constraints with technology investments.
Lead cost-saving initiatives, including cloud service optimization, licensing strategies, and vendor management to maximize the financial efficiency of the infrastructure.
Manage solutions across multiple cloud platforms and on-premise systems, ensuring consistent performance, security, and compliance across the environments.
Own decisions on platform selection and integration, ensuring compatibility and compliance with enterprise standards.
Continuously improve service delivery to achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction, ensuring systems meet or exceed SLAs and customer expectations.
Drive innovation within the team, adopting the latest technologies and best practices to enhance the capabilities of supported services.
Evaluate and select emerging technologies, methodologies, and best practices that can be integrated into the environment to enhance service offerings.
Lead a diverse team of engineers and specialists, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and high performance.
Own decisions related to talent management, team structure, and upskilling strategies to ensure the team's continued growth and alignment with organizational goals

We Are Looking For You, If You Have:

Degree or equivalent Experience in technology (IT/Computing)
Good knowledge of overall IT infrastructure technologies and expert management knowledge in data centre technologies
Well-developed leadership skills, ability to motivate and inspire others, strong in team building and in developing individuals
Effectively engages relevant stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure available infrastructure capabilities meet business requirements.
Takes full responsibility for budgeting, estimating, planning and objective setting
10 years of IT and business work experience with a broad range of exposure to various technical environments and business segments
Proven leadership experience managing large, distributed teams across geographies
Deep expertise in Oracle Cloud Technologies, Linux and Databases technologies
Solid understanding of current and planned architecture, platforms and solutions that support the business
Broad understanding of the current and emerging technology trends and developments
Strong working knowledge of governance policies and practices
Ability to provide strategic direction and inspire a high-performance culture within the organization.
Strong decision-making abilities, particularly in high-pressure, high-impact situations.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with customers at all levels to ensure satisfaction and successful outcomes.
Experience in managing 24x7 operations for mission-critical systems with an emphasis on reliability, availability, and performance.
Expertise in incident management, disaster recovery, and continuous improvement processes to reduce downtime and improve system health.
Track record of managing high-scale Linux environments in complex environments, including experience with high-availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) configurations.
Ability to manage large-scale budgets, optimize licensing, and negotiate contracts with vendors.
Experience in driving cost-efficiency initiatives.
Solid understanding of regulatory requirements, data governance, and security protocols for cloud.
Experience in ensuring compliance with standards such as GDPR, PCI DSS, and ISO certifications.
