Head of PMO ensures the that all projects align with our business objectives and are executed efficiently and effectively.

# Direct reports (indicative): up to 10

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning and Execution: create and manage one roadmap for entire company, ensuring project portfolio aligns to commercial strategies
  • Project Portfolio Management: set and guide a solid project portfolio management process and drive efficient decision making with BoD
  • Resource Management: ensure timely execution and efficient resource allocation / prioritisation in close collaboration with finance teams
  • Project Delivery: manage project development and execution from initiation through to close, ensuring proper project delivery ownership across the company
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: provide timely performance reporting of programs, projects & portfolio to stakeholders. Develop and maintain project dashboards and performance metrics.
  • Risk and Change Management: identify and mitigate project risks. Develop contingency plans to address potential project issues. Manage change control processes, ensuring risks and costs to changing project scope fully understood.
  • Governance and Compliance: chair Project Management Committee and participate in all cross-functional activities that aim at portfolio prioritization, resource and budget allocation, risk assessment, pipelining of initiatives. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: foster strong relationships with key stakeholders. Facilitate communication and collaboration across departments.
  • Team Leadership and Development: lead and mentor the PMO team. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Budget Management: oversee the PMO budget and ensure financial accountability.
  • Innovation and Best Practices: stay updated with industry trends and best practices in project, program and portfolio management. Implement innovative solutions to improve PMO efficiency and effectiveness.

Critical knowledge & skills:

  • Excellent understanding of project/program/portfolio management principles
  • Expertise in change management to effectively guide organizations through transitions and transformations.
  • Skilled at identifying most effective/appropriate project methodologies based on project scope and complexity
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills. Effective communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong knowledge of financial management principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • University degree/appropriate recognition of project/program/portfolio management competence from external recognised body

Desired Experience:

  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects and project portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of project management and Agile methodologies
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experienced at developing project management capabilities
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a PMO.
  • Project Management certification is highly desirable (PMP, PRINCE2, PMI, etc.). Additional certifications in Agile methodologies are a plus.
