Job Description

We have a new opportunity for a Senior Strategy Consultant to join our Plan & Perform team within CTO. The Senior Strategy Consultant role is embedded in the CTO Strategy team, which is a dedicated group of Strategists, Technology / Network Modelers, Financial Planners and Consultants. Our remit is to support CTO leadership in setting the divisional strategy, building the 3-year investment plan, refining the CTO operating model and undertaking options analysis to address CTO strategic challenges. Our team members are a mix of specialists and generalists, who support each other on activities and projects as part of a strong emphasis on team play.

The CTO Strategy team act as a trusted partner and advisor to the CTO and Virgin Media O2 Board of Directors. Using a suite of consulting skills and a range of analytical methodologies / frameworks, the role will provide rigorous and well-articulated analysis to senior CTO stakeholders.

The must haves

  • You will have extensive experience in some of the following areas; portfolio management, organisational design, TOM definition and implementation, strategic options / trade off analysis and strategic frameworks as part of previous roles delivering corporate, business, functional or technology strategy within industry or in consulting firms
  • You will need to demonstrate an understanding of the external influences driving Telecoms strategy and the internal factors that impact feasibility
  • Experience and understanding of corporate finance processes and will need to possess broad financial acumen as part of supporting the development of investment cases, options analysis and 3-year investment plan
  • Experience of applying strategy / transformation frameworks along with an understanding and demonstrable application of Enterprise Architecture / Operating Model frameworks is critical.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading fast-paced projects and possess strong leadership qualities to manage senior stakeholder expectations and guide project team members

The other stuff we are looking for

  • Excellent verbal / written communication and presentational skills with proven experience of being able to distil complex themes and strategic recommendations into simple unambiguous messages for senior management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in order to deliver recommendations around the viability of new product development, technology deployment and operating model change
  • Knowledge of Telecoms (fixed network or mobile) is beneficial, but not essential given that we regularly draw upon subject matter expert insights from across Virgin Media O2
