Job Description

The Accounting, Reporting & Control team are responsible for the integrity of the reported financial results of Virgin Media O2 (VMO2). We provide clarity, insight and advice to a varied list of internal stakeholders and external shareholders.

The importance of the role performed by the team is significant, ensuring accuracy and compliance across each of the reporting & accounting requirements of VMO2, while focussing on simplification and optimisation of processes across a changing organisation.

As the Senior Financial Accounting Manager, it’s your job to ensure the timely, complete and accurate delivery of the financial results for VMO2. You will take ownership for oversight and review of results produced by Liberty Blume Shared Services (LSS), for onward delivery to internal and external stakeholders.

You will partner closely with LSS and have oversight of complex accounting process, enabling the accurate reporting of financial results.

You'll be responsible for the development of and ownership of new review processes to aid in the oversight of VMO2 financial results produced by LSS, and will provide direction and support to the Financial Accounting Manger for month-end activities, change projects and improvements to processes.

Additional responsibilities and duties include: Maintenance of positive relationships within the wider finance team, including exposure to the Finance SLT and WLT, ensuring they are well informed of accounting impacts and process; Ownership of the Travel and Expense Policy and be the primary point of contact for the LSS travel support team and Egencia; Responsibility for the Delegation of Authority Matrix, and of the intercompany recharge policy.

Efficiency gains through change are vital to the success of the team, the successful candidate must be prepared to lead through change and new demands whilst maintaining a consistent and steady output throughout.

The must haves

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant or equivalent experience, with a strong accounting background.
  • Knowledge and understanding of IFRS (US GAAP is a plus but not crucial).
  • Experience of simultaneously managing complex and interconnected processes in a fast-paced finance function.
  • Articulate with strong communication skills and the ability to liaise, negotiate with, and influence a wide range of stakeholders across all levels and business areas.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and implementing process improvements.
