Job Description

We have a great new role for a Platform Owner to join our Technology Transformation team.

The NMS Platform Owner will drive our platform offerings' strategic direction, development, and growth. This includes modernising our NMS estate to support our evolving network whilst improving NMS availability and reliability. Working closely with cross-functional teams you will define the platform's vision, roadmap, and priorities, ensuring they align with our business objectives and deliver maximum value.

Key responsibilities

Platform Leadership:

  • Take end-to-end ownership of NMS platforms estate, managing and prioritising strategic delivery, lifecycle management and support commitments.
  • Define the platform vision and roadmap.
  • Accountable for the financial management of NMS Platform Family investment.

Collaboration and Cost Optimisation:

  • Collaborate with delivery teams, architects, and enablement teams for seamless execution.
  • Identify vendor / 3rd party delivery cost optimization opportunities working with the NMS tech lead
  • Lead NMS Rationalisation to reduce costs through consolidation and promote the use of open interfaces (supporting the implementation of strategic automation development).

Platform Delivery and Lifecycle Management:

  • Accountable for defining the scope and prioritising delivery of new capability and lifecycle management of platforms.
  • Ensure feature-rich, operationally robust, and openly developable platforms.

Roadmap Planning:

  • Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap aligned to our transformation blue print and supporting the NWESA objectives.

Requirements Management:

  • Manage the platform backlog and prioritize squad requirements.
  • Ensure platform solutions complement existing and future solutions.

Vendor Management:

  • Manage vendor relationships ensuring timely delivery of agreed scope, partner costs and adherence to platform roadmap.
  • Promote open interfaces, NMS consolidation, and agile software delivery practices.

Requirements Management:

  • Convert business and product requirements into platform solutions.
  • Own and manage the platform budget and investment.

The must haves

  • Knowledge of product journey management and alignment to platform development and design.
  • Working knowledge and experience of working with a variety of NMS vendors (Ericsson, Nokia, Mavenir, Ciena etc).
  • Experience in platform engineering, software development, or a related technical field.

The other stuff we are looking for

  • Working experience and knowledge of public, private, and hybrid cloud providers, technologies, and services.
  • Working understanding of data and application frameworks on the cloud.
  • Responsible for coaching the engineering team
  • Experience in process design methodologies.
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies
