Job Description

The Accounting, Reporting & Control team are responsible for the integrity of the reported financial results of Virgin Media O2 (VMO2). We provide clarity, insight and advice to a varied list of internal stakeholders and external shareholders.

The importance of the wider role performed by the team is significant, ensuring accuracy and compliance across the entire reporting & accounting requirements of VMO2, while focusing on simplification and optimisation of processes across a continuously evolving organisation.

Key responsibilities & accountabilities

  • You will partner closely with the accounting teams, investor relations, treasury, legal and shareholders to deliver timely, complete and accurate external reporting results – including issuance of consolidated quarterly results under IFRS and US GAAP.
  • You will have a significant relationship with the external auditors, providing clear explanations and will be largely responsible for the delivery of an efficient audit process
  • Maintain strong relationships within the wider finance team, ensuring they are well informed of accounting impacts and process and provide guidance on appropriate accounting treatment of complex transactions to the accounting teams.
  • You will be responsible for the preparation of complex sections of VMO2’s externally reported results.
  • Work with the accounting teams to enable an efficient cash flow reporting process within the JV. Focusing on balance sheet reporting and analysis to identify trends, risks & opportunities.
  • Manage reporting journal entries to delivery accurate consolidated results of the JV.
  • Management of complex projects, including input to the preparation of Offering Memorandums for the issuance of new and refinanced debt, under tight reporting deadlines.
  • Preparation of financial documents for multiple entities within the JV, including consolidated groups, as well as oversight of the preparation by the JV’s shared service center.

The must haves

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant or equivalent experience, with a strong accounting background
  • Knowledge and understanding of IFRS and US GAAP accounting principles.
  • Experience of simultaneously managing complex and interconnected processes in a fast-paced finance function.
  • Articulate with strong communication skills and the ability to liaise, negotiate with, and influence a wide range of internal stakeholders across all levels and business areas
  • Previous experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders

  • Experience with an SEC Reporting entity preferred.
