Job Description

We have a couple of brand-new opportunities for Data Engineers to join our technology and transformation team focused on building and supporting our cloud platforms. These roles will play a key role in shaping the future of our OSS systems and processes.

The team is working on migrating applications to the cloud and these are key roles to build and deploy the cloud data pipelines. You will also create new processes, efficiencies, and innovations with generative AI. We are looking for candidates technically skilled in Python, SQL and ETL development.

You will get the opportunity to join a high performing team whom this year won the Google Cloud x Formula E AI Hackathon out of 200 industry leading teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with different teams to develop data pipelines.
  • Design, Build and maintain data processing systems by following the standard development practices.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders within the product teams and platform teams to understand data requirements and align cost optimization strategies with business goals.
  • Implement and enforce data governance policies that align with data engineering best practices and query cost optimization goals.
  • Tune BigQuery performance and query optimization to handle and analyse large datasets effectively.
  • Implement advanced Python scripting skills to automate and streamline our data processes.
  • Leverage deep knowledge of Data Engineering best practices to enhance data handling and storage methodologies.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, effectively communicating and collaborating to understand and fulfil their data requirements.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders, providing insights and aligning data strategies with business objectives.
  • Continuously adapt to new technologies and changes in the data landscape to keep systems at the cutting edge.
  • Collaborate with the infrastructure and DevOps team to facilitate data engineering requirements.

The must haves

  • Strong experience in Python programming,
  • Experienced in SQL Scripting
  • Ability to develop and manage ETL processes that convert operational transactional data into dimensions and facts for easy access and analysis

The other stuff we are looking for

  • Experience in building batch and streaming data pipelines using BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub.
  • Experience in using Cloud Logging and Cloud Monitoring.
  • An understanding of cloud solutions such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or similar such as Azure or AWS
  • Data Build Tool (DBT)
