Job Description

At Virgin Media O2 (VMO2), you’ll have the opportunity to tackle some of the most complex strategic challenges in the UK Telecommunications sector. Following the formation of our £31bn joint venture in 2021, we’ve accelerated our integration efforts, unlocked significant synergies, and remain committed to driving long-term growth and shareholder value.

As a Senior Manager within our Corporate Strategy team, you’ll lead high-impact projects, mentor emerging talent, and drive enterprise-wide transformations. You’ll serve as a key thought partner to leadership and have a tangible impact on the company’s strategic roadmap.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Project Leadership: Direct complex, cross-functional strategy projects from ideation to implementation, ensuring alignment with VMO2’s long-term vision and goals
  • Executive Advisory: Engage directly with senior leaders offering clear, data-driven recommendations on critical strategic issues and growth opportunities
  • Growth & M&A Initiatives: Identify and assess new avenues for value creation, including partnerships, alliances, and acquisitions, and guide stakeholders through strategic assessment
  • Board-Ready Deliverables: Produce high-quality strategic materials and proposals suitable for Board/ Executive level review, balancing analytical rigor with clear, compelling storytelling
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and develop junior team members, fostering a collaborative environment, and providing ongoing coaching and career development support

Location: Paddington (2-3 days per week)

The must haves

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;

  • 7+ years of experience in strategic roles—such as corporate strategy, strategic planning, management consulting, or related fields—demonstrating a consistent track record of delivering high-impact projects
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with proven ability to influence and advise senior executives
  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen, including the ability to structure complex problems, conduct rigorous analysis, and derive actionable insights
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and motivating teams, with a history of successfully managing multiple projects and priorities in dynamic environment.
  • A proactive, self-starting mindset, comfortable navigating ambiguity

  • Familiarity with the telecommunications, media, and technology (TMT) sector or digital services
  • An innovative, growth-oriented mindset, with an ability to identify emerging trends and recommend strategic responses
