The Senior Director of Consumer Strategy works across the organization to identify and analyze key strategic questions that either underpin decisions made by or are on top of mind of Verizon’s Board of Directors and executive leadership. The Senior Director will be a thought leader to Verizon’s most senior leaders and will play an instrumental role in developing and implementing Verizon’s next-generation strategy. Verizon operates in multiple business segments, including Wireless and Wireline connectivity and IoT/telematics. As such, the candidate is expected to be knowledgeable about the entire value chains and/or technology stacks, competitive landscape, and business value creation opportunities. This position also benefits from an in-depth knowledge of Verizon’s product portfolios, and the telecom, media, and technology sectors.
Our primary responsibility is to lead cross-functional teams in developing recommendations on key strategic decisions. This involves identifying critical issues, framing options, building business cases, synthesizing recommendations, and helping our peer teams execute these strategies successfully. The role is dynamic, fast-paced, and covers a broad range of issues impacting the telecom, media, and technology sectors. This leader will successfully navigate a complex organizational structure and continuously bring forward an outside-in view that challenges internal thinking and provides objective views of opportunities and risks.
The successful candidate should be professionally polished, have sound business acumen, a breadth of quantitative and analytical skills, and excellent communication skills. The Senior Director will have a demonstrable track record of achieving results and deep experience in collaborating with a diverse set of stakeholders to get results across multiple groups and disciplines. To be successful in the role, the Senior Director also needs to be extremely comfortable with working in ambiguous environments, have high energy, and be assertive about taking initiative. The individual should also be a self-starter, creative and innovative thinker, and have a passion for excellence.
Specific responsibilities include …
Lead cross-functional teams in developing strategies, business cases and recommendations for critical decisions in the Consumer segment.
Apply frameworks to develop programs, projects, investments, and organizational strategies.
Advise senior management on emerging trends, opportunities, competitive threats, and internal process improvements.
Leverage market and consumer data to drive growth and make recommendations.
Conduct business reviews to assess strengths, weaknesses, and operational effectiveness.
Partner with consumer-facing teams to integrate and execute strategies across the organization.
Help drive execution of key projects and programs across the organization.
What we’re looking for...
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, technology, or equivalent experience; MBA preferred.
8+ years of experience in corporate strategy, scenario planning, or consulting.
Proven track record of achieving results and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
Experience in telecom, media, or technology preferred.
Knowledge of Verizon’s product portfolio is a plus.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills.
Strategic thinking, market analysis, and creative problem-solving abilities.
Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments, demonstrate initiative, and strive for excellence.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong ability to translate strategic plans into actionable steps and drive execution across all levels of the organization.
Where you’ll be working
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
