What you’ll be doing...
Must be a current participant of the Department of Defense Skillbridge Program or of the Hiring our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 1-2025.
The Network Construction Engineer will be responsible for performing Field Engineering and Vendor Management roles across a wide geography, responsible for engineering and installing the Domestic US Core Networks; Intelligent Edge Network (iEN), Unified Transport, FTTCS/5G, Voice and Data, and Transport Core networks. You will engineer and manage multiple simultaneous projects, from issuance of required engineering documentation through managing the entire installation lifecycle; in particular to resolve technical issues as they present themselves. You will utilize Verizon Capacity Creation Process (CCP) system, CoFEEEngineering, ICON/CCC, and other internal systems to document all technical solutions and ensure a timely deployment of all builds. Additional responsibilities include:
Managing multiple Capacity Creation Requests for new hardware deployments, reconfigurations, decommissions, and First Office Application (FOA) projects.
Interfacing with Operations and other Implementation organizations in performing site surveys to obtain critical site-specific pre-engineering data prior to the build, as well as post-installation redlines and end of job audits.
Negotiating, coordinating, and driving/tracking completion of project milestones with all appropriate stakeholders, to include third party turf vendors.
Facilitating and maintaining relationships with multiple service vendors, including pricing compliance, standards creation, and compliance, and conducting quality reviews –to include follow-up remediation as appropriate and periodic performance reviews.
Maintaining excellent communication with Project Manager, Functional Team Members, and Direct Management to ensure early identification of issues and timely reporting of status.
Performing the end-of-job (EOJ) walkthrough/audit of build for IP72202 installation practice adherence.
Managing multiple projects providing timely reporting, and effectively coordinate with Planning, Vendor Technical Management, and Program Management organizations.
Managing and scheduling multiple projects, balancing their workload in accordance with corporate priorities.
Coordinating with Planning, Program Management, and third party turf vendor organizations, program/project status updates and readouts, and contributing to team transformation and process/procedure improvements.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
Must be a current participant of the Department of Defense Skillbridge Program or of the Hiring our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 1-2025.
Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
Three or more years of relevant work experience.
Experience in Telecom Engineering and Network Implementation.
Experience in Telecom Installation and Central Office Quality Standards.
Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
A valid Driver's License.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Ability to manage changing priorities, competing priorities, and situations in which guidelines can change.
Knowledge of CWDM/DWDM multiplexing to maximize fiber resources.
Knowledge of CRAN & ERAN architecture and coordination mechanisms.
Engineering, Planning, and/or Ops knowledge, especially with Verizon Networks.
Past experience with ICON, CCP, CoFEE, nSAP, vSAP and SRM as well as expense and/or capital budgets.
Solid understanding of telecom networking, networks and technologies, equipment designs and configuration procedures, and inventory.
Strong technical and project management skills as well as excellent PC and software application skills including Windows and MS Office.
Leadership, self-starter with strong management and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written skills for inter-organizational communications.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
