What you’ll be doing...

We are looking for a Director – Software Development for the CIO - Verizon
Business Group in India to lead Sales Systems. In this role, the leader will be responsible for building and leading a highly motivated and talented team, coaching and mentoring them to deliver high quality products and services as well as partner with cross CIO teams to establish goals,
influence and effectively communicate the vision of CIO Business leadership team. This leader will also be responsible for driving adoption of AI and GenAI to transform Agent and Customer Experience to make the VBG systems world class. This person must have excellent communication, project management, and strategic thinking skills, Deep understanding of AI and GenAI concepts and Architectures along with strong technical experience, and reports to the Sr Director in Verizon India.

  • Driving technical solutions, Designs, Code Delivery, and Certification of the applications

  • Ensuring that the systems are robust, scalable, reusable, cloud native, and 24/7 availability.

  • Ensuring that systems can support major sales events like Apple Device launch, Price Plan launches, Black Friday, etc.

  • Providing leadership and accountability for the above and ensure that complex designs come to closure, minimizing impacts to internal VZW systems and increasing subscriber growth, deliver a great customer experience, and profitability.

  • Driving DevSecOps implementation including ideation, business case, architecture, design, stakeholder management, development, trials and delivery using industry standard processes and tools.

  • Leading and transform Quality Engineering practices within the portfolio.

  • Ensuring that programs/projects are delivered on time. Deliver results within budget, time, quality and strategic and tactical key performance goals.

  • Partnering with peers in the industry and bench mark architecture, designs and coding standards.

  • Having focused attention on security. Infuse and adopt security through a design approach.

  • Adopting Copilot tools to drive efficiencies into SDLC processes and drive increased productivity of the teams.

The leader will be responsible for building a highly motivated and talented team, coaching and mentoring them to deliver high quality products and services.

  • Partnering with business units to establish goals, influence and effectively communicate the vision set by VLC & GTS Leadership.

  • Partnering with Global CIO Verizon Team and Strategic partners to drive and deliver committed business outcomes

  • Responsible for building good working relationships with the third party SI partners.

  • Defining resource capacity plans for their portfolio of applications.

  • Responsible for management, staffing and operations; make decisions regarding hiring, promotion and disciplinary actions.

  • Coaching, training and motivating the team to achieve subject matter expertise. Hire and train high performing innovation experts.

  • Reviewing the critical projects and plans on a frequent basis with the executive leadership team

  • Working closely with the Infrastructure teams for deployment and monitoring of these apps

  • Delivering results within budget, time, quality and strategic and tactical key performance goals.

  • Documenting and comply with software quality, data security and compliance processes.

  • Creating proposals and present effectively to a diverse audience; manage stakeholders.

  • Managing teams in both direct and matrix structures;

  • Developing leadership qualities in the organization to achieve high performance results; drive employee satisfaction and engagement for the organization.

  • Market and Industry Knowledge: Analyze technology, platform, AI/GenAI trends, Sales Marketing and customer acquisition patterns and discover opportunities for growth. Review tracking reports and stay continuously updated on results.

  • Developing strategies for application leads to support growth opportunities for products and services. Remain current on all wireless/mobility products and services, industry and competitive trends, and reinforce findings with the team.

  • Customer focus: Recommend, develop, and implement process improvements. Resolve customer complaints in a timely manner. Derive actionable insights from the voice of the customer.

  • Decision Making Authority: Act with relative independence in area of responsibility; responsible for managing budget and/or staff within subfunction(s). Line of sight: 1 to 3 years.

  • Work Complexity: Develop policies & procedures for assigned subfunction(s); tasks are multiple and diverse; work requires interpretation to ensure appropriate application. Exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques & evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

  • Contributing and drive larger organization wide initiatives to support Verizon India transformation.

  • Ability to identify synergies across delivery teams and work towards Optimizing processes and resources & Leverage CoEs/Focus groups by Facilitating collaboration and sharing of knowledge & best practices.

  • To maintain required governance, compliances and ensure security in all aspects.
    To look at the external environment and adapt/relook at strategies on the Business/Technology front.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical qualification

  • Ten or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or specialized training.

  • Knowledge of IT operations and application development and Maintenance

  • Knowledge of Wireless Sales, Digital experience and Point of Sale (POS) tools and trends.

  • Experience in delivering Microservices architecture, large-scale migration from legacy to directional platforms, Cloud deployment, DevOps delivery model, and CICD automation.

  • Experience in partnering with Business and IT teams at multiple levels to drive alignment and delivery of solutions for complex Business challenges

  • Ability to identify opportunities, facilitate sessions to ideate and come up with joint cross functional solutions to improve digital experiences and streamline omni-channel processes and enhance Digital and assisted processes adaptinlatest trends in AI and GenAI.

  • Ability to meet timelines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, customer and team-oriented work environment.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Web application Development using frameworks like React JS, Spring Reactive or equivalent supporting Telco BSS Architecture

  • Experience in technology leadership, including solid understanding of technology selection, architecture, and full stack implementation.

  • Experience in telecom industry experience with a focus on large scale transformation programs & contribute to larger organization

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience in Software Engineering and Development experience, including leading IT teams through Business Analysis, Project Management, and digital technologies.

  • Experience in supporting mission critical 24X7 production systems, lead real-time high stake risk mitigation plan and drive timely decisions

  • Experience in direct people management experience, including leadership of diverse global teams.

  • Experience in senior talent, mentoring and coaching.

  • Industry recognitions, patents & papers , participation in standards/ professional bodies

  • Strong presentation skills to communicate complex concepts effectively.
