This traineeship offers you a unique opportunity to kickstart your career in our sustainable business. Each of the trainee positions is distinct, tied to a department within a specific business area and working location. Your role as a Trainee - Investment Advisory

Transaction Analysis, part of Risk Management, is an international and experienced team which is engaged across all Vattenfall countries. The team is tasked with providing independent advice to senior management (e.g. CEO) in order to make the risk/reward balance of business proposals transparent, strengthen business cases where possible and support Vattenfall’s strategy in enabling fossil free living within one generation. The role offers you the unique combination of being involved in strategic group decisions and working in close proximity to Vattenfall’s main commercial activities.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Review investment/divestment proposals, new products and complex structured deals throughout the Vattenfall Group (e.g. wind farms, e-mobility, innovative technologies, decentralised energy, commodity derivatives) to examine robustness of the proposal and potential dependencies/impact:
    • Identify risks to key value drivers (e.g. operational, market, commercial, reputational, regulatory);
    • Aim to enhance proposals from a (portfolio) risk mitigation perspective;
    • Verify valuation and financial models to assess the economic viability of proposals;
    • Review key contracts and ensure consistency with valuation and commercial aims;
    • Submit reports including advice and recommendations to executive level.
  • Engage and discuss business proposals with project teams and relevant staff functions (e.g. Finance, Legal), to support the business through constructive feedback.

Qualifications

Your qualifications as a Trainee - Investment Advisory

To succeed in this position, we are looking for individuals who possess both the professional and personal skills to thrive in a dynamic, global environment.

Below are the key qualifications we seek:

  • University degree in engineering, science, finance or other relevant subject;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Dutch. Swedish and/or German language skills are an advantage.
  • Numerate, with a commercial interest in order to develop an understanding of complex business proposals;

You should also recognize yourself in:

  • Structured

To be considered for our traineeship, we are looking for candidates who should:

  • Be a recent graduate with an academic degree or expected graduation before September 2025.
  • Have maximum one year of work experience after completing your most recent degree. Interns and student jobs will not be considered.
  • Be fluent in English. Skills in other languages can be a merit.
  • Be willing to travel regularly and relocate for short rotations within our organization.

You will be working in the department Transaction Analysis, part of Risk Management and located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
