To enable the ongoing energy transition with increased electrification and reduced emissions, Vattenfall is making large investments in our heating plants. Now we are looking for team members who want to join us on this journey.

Vattenfall Heat Projects develops and realises all of Vattenfall's new-build heating plant projects in conventional and new technologies. The Engineering Department consists of an international team of highly qualified engineers from different disciplines and is responsible for the development and execution of the technical project stream.

A selected project team of engineers manage the technical solution development, execution processes and coordinates the installation, commissioning and hand-over of the new plant to the future operator, in consultation with all stakeholders. In addition, the Engineering Department supports projects with schedule preparation, investment cost estimation, quality management and quality standards.

In order to support the development and implementation of our technical activities, in an extensive project portfolio, we are looking for the following new team member for Vattenfall.

What will you do?

As an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer, your tasks are varied and crucial to the success of a project.

Here are the key responsibilities:

  • Oversee all Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) activities throughout a project lifecycle; spanning development, establishment, and realisation phases.
  • Coordinate engineering activities related to I&C, including interfaces with other disciplines.
  • Take responsibility for I&C interfaces and collaborate with other disciplines in project deliverables preparation.
  • Provide technical coordination for I&C solutions, emphasising Distributed Control System, Automation, Communication and Security Systems in power plant-specific tasks.
  • Specify I&C components adhering to international regulations, standards and internal Vattenfall standards.
  • Support various project aspects, including procurement, quality standards applicability and stakeholder management, reporting to project engineering managers and the Line Manager - Discipline Engineering.

Qualifications

We are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications, knowledge and experience

  • Relevant academic technical background i.e. university degree in automation technology, control and instrumentation, electrical engineering, or other engineering subject with significant relevant content OR apprenticeship / vocational technical qualifications in relevant subject i.e. Instrumentation & Controls HNC/HND (Level 4+).
  • A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction within the industrial sector, preferably specializing in heat and power.
  • Demonstrates a robust knowledge of I&C engineering, programming, fault finding commissioning and maintaining with significant practical experience gained from the realisation of power, heat and process engineering plants.
  • Sound knowledge of various systems, including Distributed Control Systems (preferably Siemens S7, PCS7, T3000), security and communication, video surveillance, fire alarm, access control, intrusion detection systems, IT infrastructure, telecommunications and active network technology.
  • Significant experience in varying Process Control technologies and the design of process control systems. The ability to work from system concept level to interrogating detailed designs.
  • Exhibits leadership qualities and analytical skills, with the ability to establish a structured approach to work for both oneself and the team.
  • Self-starting attitude, a strong focus on health & safety and safety in design.
  • Ability to describe future installations to our internal customer and ensure consistency with existing installations.
