Job Description

Company Description

Vattenfall is a European energy company with approximately 21 000 employees. For more than 100 years we have electrified industries, supplied energy to people’s homes and modernized our way of living through innovation and cooperation. We are looking for talented individuals who, in addition to their passion for their own role, also have strong team spirit and want to contribute to supporting a meaningful corporate mission.

Job Description

We offer an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager(NL) where you manage the commercial aspects of our onshore operational sites and be part of working towards a fossil free future!

In our Onshore Operations Team as a Commercial Manager you support our Dutch Wind Farms. You will be based in the Netherlands being part of the Operations Team who are responsible for safely operating and maintaining Vattenfall’s onshore renewable energy assets.

The Onshore Commercial Managers look after all commercial aspects of Vattenfall’s onshore windfarms, which are situated in the UK, the Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark. The country Commercial Managers work together as a Virtual Empowered Team (VET) and you will have an important cross-country role within the Commercial VET, supporting other country commercial managers and operations teams as and when required to maintain commercial and operational performance.

Your role / what will you do?

As the Commercial Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the commercial and contract management of the sites, ensuring that all planned activities and ad-hoc requirements have comprehensive contractual coverage. You’ll take ownership of thoroughly analyzing and managing contracts within our onshore wind projects. You dive into the details, locate annexes, and know exactly where to find the relevant clauses to leverage them for our organization. With your keen eye for detail and strong understanding of contractual obligations, you ensure that our company maximizes the value of its agreements. Whether it’s delivery terms, performance specifications, or financial clauses, you excel at translating complex contracts into actionable insights that drive our success.

Your expertise will be vital in supporting the procurement process, collaborating with the Procurement team to negotiate amendments, renewals, and significant new contracts. Your knack for resolving commercial issues, including variations and claims, will be key in driving necessary escalation when required. It will be your responsibility to ensure that all stakeholders involved uphold their contractual obligations. Building and fostering strong business relationships with both new and existing contractors, as well as internal and external stakeholders, will be a fundamental aspect of your role.

Other tasks and responsibilities:

  • Support contractual KPI monitoring and reporting
  • Support central commercial initiatives, including reviewing and developing commercial processes where needed
  • Contribute to the relationship management of both internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct commercial analysis of plant and failures of equipment
  • Support on ad hoc and miscellaneous commercial topics
  • Manage insurance claims and other insurance aspects as necessary e.g. external renewals
  • Provide input into financial business plan as required
  • Be an active member of the Commercial VET

Location

Your office will be in Amsterdam or Arnhem. We support hybrid working and you will visit our sides every now and then.

Qualifications

First of all we want to emphasize that you need to be fluent in Dutch and English. As a commercial manager you will talk to a variety of stakeholders (internal and external) and being able to speak Dutch is crucial. As our commercial manager you will bring a combination of strong commercial and negotiation skills, allowing you to effectively manage contracts and drive favorable outcomes and the ability to dive into the details when necessary. Your ability to understand the operations and balance conflicting requirements of quality, cost, and time will be crucial in making informed decisions under tight deadlines. Additionally, your aptitude for teamwork and your influential nature will enable you to build and nurture relationships within a multicultural and diverse team. With a results-oriented mindset, you will thrive in meeting tight deadlines and delivering concise and impactful information to senior management.

Next to this you bring:

  • Degree, preferably in commercial/financial, general engineering or technical qualification
  • 3-5 years of experience in large industrial projects, preferably renewables, oil and gas or similar complex industries
  • Experience in contract and commercial management and managing supplier relationships
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Proactive approach to HSE
  • Strong team player with the ability to influence over a wide network of co-worker relationships and work in multicultural teams
  • Be results-orientated, able to meet tight deadlines and produce concise information for senior management
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing, including in both Dutch and English
  • Willingness to take on ad hoc tasks and assist the site team where needed
