Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager will support our team of Project Managers with a focus on English and Scottish onshore wind projects in the development phase. This covers all aspects of project progression and design from initial concept to environmental survey, detailed design, planning submission, procurement, route to market and financing, and, finally, developing a business case for a final investment decision.

This is an opportunity to be a key part of the design team bringing forward new British wind projects which will power our lives with fossil-free electricity.

Main responsibilities:

  • To support the Project Manager and project team by delivering internal and external milestones and approvals
  • Maintain control over key project management documents and processes, such as project timelines, project management plans, risk registers, budgets and more.
  • To lead specific onshore wind design related workstreams as delegated by a project manager, this might include, for example, drafting a stakeholder engagement plan, overseeing ecological survey activities, or managing civil engineering design of an onshore wind project.
  • Create and maintain good long-term relationships with other Vattenfall departments and external consultants involved in the projects
  • Help promote a safety conscious, professional team
  • Communicate with landowners, public officials and other local stakeholders.

Location
The location of the position is Hexham, Northumberland with the flexibility of agile/remote working .

Qualifications

The successful candidate is likely educated to degree level in a relevant field.

  • At least 3 year’s work experience in a professional setting
  • be a self-starter, work independently and be creative/solution oriented

    • be fluent in English, both written and spoken
    • have high levels of energy & commitment to deliver

    • have basic project management knowledge
    • have the ability to adapt easily to different environments (political stakeholders, farmers, government officials, business partners) and manage these different settings
    • have good communication skills, report writing, analytical and presentational skills
    • have good IT skills and competent ay using Office 365 suite

Desirable skills include:

  • Formal project management qualifications (e.g. Association for Project Management or Prince2)
  • Experience working in a development on renewable energy or other major infrastructure, preferably onshore wind.

The successful candidate has to be prepared to, on occasion, travel and work out of office hours. A Driving license is desirable, but not essential.
