Job Description

About us

We’ve grown at an incredibly fast pace since our launch in 2017. We’re the trusted student recruitment partner to more than 500 higher ed institutions in 35 countries worldwide, including Boston University, University of Southern California, NYU, University of Arizona, University of Calgary, and University of Alberta.

We’ve raised over $33M from top-tier investors, and we’re on course to achieve our mission of empowering 10 million students to make the right choices in their higher ed journey.

Here's where you come in

As our Sales Development Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in our growth globally (North America & Europe). You will be instrumental in developing and nurturing a team of skilled Sales Development Reps, guiding their success, and fostering a culture of achievement.

You’ll serve as both a leader and mentor to a small, seasoned team of SDRs or University Partnerships Executives (UPEs), as we call them. Your dual role as a "player-coach" will involve not only smashing individual targets but also steering the team towards excellence. This role is ideal for you if you’re passionate about exceeding goals and interested in a sales leadership career path.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead and nurture a team of 2-3 University Partnerships Executives (UPEs) to achieve critical goals including booking opportunity meetings for Account Executives.

  • Achieve your individual quota through outreach to senior stakeholders in higher ed institutions (cold calling, emails, events, networking etc.) and lead the team to do the same.

  • Engage prospects with our value proposition, leading with how Unibuddy is uniquely positioned to solve challenges in admissions, enrollment & student success.

  • Champion the team’s development, providing mentorship and support to foster individual and collective success.

  • Actively contribute to sales strategies while ensuring the team aligns with the company's vision and objectives.

  • Collaborate with the CRO, wider sales team, marketing, and customer success to drive improvements in pipeline generation.

  • Suggest creative ways to build and optimize the processes within the sales development team, creating a lead generation engine that’s efficient and effective.

What you'll need to bring

  • Sales experience: proven track record of hitting and exceeding your sales goals as an SDR, BDR, or Senior SDR.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with a track record of guiding and inspiring others to meet and exceed targets.

  • You are excited about maintaining your own quota and leading by example.

  • You’re a multi-tasker and can thrive when balancing the needs of the team, driving improvements to the sales process, and achieving your own targets.

  • A pragmatic way of working and high energy.

  • You use your creative mindset to come up with new ways to create sales opportunities.

  • You have excellent communication skills: You’ll be regularly communicating with the team, senior external stakeholders, and business leads (VP and C-Suite).

  • You use data when making decisions, setting goals, and driving the success of the team.

  • Passion for the education sector and a genuine interest in fostering partnerships with higher education institutions.

Perks, benefits & working environment

  • Salary of $80-90k base plus commission.

  • Highly flexible work culture. Our teams spends 2-days a week in the office in NYC.

  • 25 days PTO plus national holidays and four additional days at the end of the year.

  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave.

  • Health insurance for you, and contributions for your family, dental and vision optional

  • Life insurance.

  • 401(K) matched 6%.

We rock! It’s our people that make us successful. We have 75 employees globally (UK, Europe, US, India & Canada) and a fantastic culture. But don’t take our word for it - we’re proud to be named by Built In as one of the best mid-sized companies to work for in the US, Mogul awarded us as a top 100 workplaces for benefits, and we won an award with Flexa as one of the most flexible EdTech & Education companies.

Our assessment is based on the six key elements of flexibility: location, hours, autonomy, benefits, role modelling and work-life balance.

We ask the hard questions so you don’t have to.
