The Flight IT technology Team at TUI Flight Fulfillment Services seeks a skilled Back End Software Engineer. This role involves developing software using state-of-the-art practices, a broad toolkit of technologies, and a DevSecOps mindset. The engineer will handle the entire software development cycle, working in an agile environment and staying up-to-date with technical advancements.

ABOUT THE JOB

  • As a Senior Back End Software Engineer, you’ll be part of a cross-functional or practice team, owning software products from conception to operation.
  • Your expertise in software engineering, DevSecOps, and collaboration will support delivering customer-focused solutions.
  • You’ll take ownership of complex topics and initiatives across your domain.
  • You’re striving for automation, clean architectures, and high quality, you’ll guide teams in solving business and technical problems efficiently.
  • Your cloud expertise, especially in AWS, will contribute to developing resilient, high-performing cloud-native applications.
  • You’ll actively verbalize ideas and collaborate with other teams to research and implement effective approaches and tools.
  • You are well-connected across the domain, within the broader TUI community, and relevant Communities of Practice.
  • You thrive in an international, multi-cultural team and regularly coach, guide, and develop junior colleagues.
  • You drive for technical excellence, ownership, and self-organization at both team and personal levels.
  • You enthusiastically learn and keep up-to-date with developments in your focus areas.

ABOUT YOU

  • Strong expertise in NodeJS, Go, or Java and their respective eco-systems
  • Experience with data persistence (SQL/noSQL) e.g. DocumentDB in AWS
  • Deep experience with implementing resource-oriented APIs (REST, SOAP) on client and server side
  • Expertise in cloud design with strong knowledge of micro system architecture in AWS (with services like S3, SQS, SNS, Lambda, ECS, etc. )
  • Extensive experience in setting up and maintaining complex infrastructure architectures with the ability to design, build, test, and deploy applications
  • Good experience with CI/CD pipeline, preferably Gitlab CI
  • Customer centric, passionate about delivering great digital products and services
  • Passionate about continuous improvement, collaboration and great teams
  • Compelling coaching and training skills for imparting professional software engineering skills in a cooperative and communicative atmosphere together with a young, inquisitive team
  • Strong problem-solving skills coupled with good communication skills, comfortable with ambiguity, highly autonomous
