The Supplier Management & Procurement (SM&P) team plays a key commercial role in TUI Airline, optimising value in all aviation contracts.

As Innovation & Process Analyst you will take a critical role in managing and developing all operational business and procurement data and activities within SM&P. You will develop reporting outputs that will allow for data-driven procurement and supplier management, and these reports will be used to influence the actions of senior managers.

You will challenge suppliers, as well as the business with innovative improvements. You will identify and project manage new value adding procurement data processes. In this role you will develop and leverage an excellent network, cooperate with internal and external stakeholders. You will stay current and be the SM&P expert on business developments.

In this role, you’ll report to the Senior Manager of Business Performance & Development.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • You will play a critical part in developing and managing a reliable, structured, effective and knowledgeable competence centre within SM&P for all related operational business and procurement data and activities/analysis. You will act as SM&P business partner and drive innovation towards SM&P colleagues and business functions by advising and recommending to ensure proper follow-up of long-term supplier performance.
    • By working with IT in a Business Intelligence (BI) environment, you will lead the automation and digitalization of data collection for the SM&P area.
    • You will project manage the setup of SM&P BI systems and define interfaces/visualisations and identify and describe SM&P data requirements and set targets for operational data to support procurement projects and strategy, supplier KPI’s and to monitor long-term supplier performance and the relevant KPI’s that are in line with SM&P’s and the company’s strategic vision.
    • You will evaluate data quality and test correctness of data, monitor results make recommendations to the team and perform pro-active and predictive analysis and forecasts as well as constantly consider any implications and further data and analysis that may be required.
  • By working with SM&P colleagues, you will support procurement projects by providing requested data, or setup and manage a project to obtain requested data, if it is not yet centrally available. Joining procurement specialists or managers on selected visits/meetings with suppliers or stakeholders to discuss specific performance KPI’s and be the subject expert when providing guidance on definition; how KPI’s will/can be tracked, etc. Based on the KPI data collected you will provide insights to influence senior decision makers.
    • You will manage compliance and accuracy in terms of (supplier) operational business data input by confirming with business owners and stakeholders the definition and source of information; determine how KPI’s will be tracked and be familiar with the tools used. As part of the supplier management programme, you will also work closely with suppliers to obtain KPI data.
    • You will take ownership of supplier operational business data databases, reporting and presentations through the validation and coordination of supplier performance reports across the different categories. You will ensure consistency in reporting across different areas of responsibility and determine, together with business owners and SM&P colleagues, the root cause of potential performance issues and investigate an appropriate remedy.
  • You will be required to develop advanced knowledge of the insurance claims process for which you will co-ordinate as subject matter expert on behalf of TUI Airlines. You will need to manage stakeholders (such as SM&P, the TUI Airlines, TUI Group Insurance team, Suppliers and TUI insurance broker, finance, legal, etc) as well as regularly review the claim process, provide training on this process, improve efficiency and make sure you maintain an overview of claims, status, etc. across all TUI Airlines.
  • Through (self) auditing you will work with the SM&P team members to evaluate working in accordance with SM&P processes and procedures and TUI Group policies. You present your advice and recommendations regarding the outcome of the audit to senior managers.
  • You take ownership of economic databases, reporting and presentations including validation, coordination and presentation of saving reports of all procurement activities/projects and ensure consistency in reporting across different areas of responsibility. You will collect, consolidate, interpret and communicate/present relevant economic parameters or data (market, countries, suppliers, geopolitics) that may impact department goals, decision making or contract projects/closures.
  • You will support the Senior Manager of BPD as a business partner towards the finance team and will also contribute your expertise towards SM&P colleagues by providing ongoing review and support to SM&P team members during procurement projects, including financial analysis of proposals. You will support and review initial financial analysis for submission to relevant internal stakeholders and perform spend analysis, to continuously detect and materialize saving opportunities as part of a strategic approach and planning. This will include supporting the Business Case process. When required, you will join SM&P team members on selected visits/meetings with suppliers or stakeholders to safeguard the economic/financial aspects, of any projects.
  • You will develop and leverage an excellent network and cooperation with internal (SM&P colleagues, operational functions, Aviation IT, etc.) and external (suppliers, etc.) stakeholders, so as to ensure the best input and output within your scope. Ensure that SM&P maintains industry best practice as well as knowledge of business/supplier developments through relevant reading, networking, meetings or attending conferences/workshops. Ensure you are acting according to TUI values and relevant finance/procurement policies and overlook the function/department for such overall compliance as well.

ABOUT YOU

  • Have at least a bachelor degree, preferably master’s degree in business management, economics, accounting, statistics, aviation or computer and information science
  • At least three years of relevant experience. Financial or accounting experience is desirable
  • Highly proficient in English, knowledge of other languages desirable but not essential
  • Be business/commercially oriented and have a business/IT hybrid profile
  • Experience of managing projects, planning delivery and coordinating the inputs from different stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
  • Experience working with senior level stakeholders, external stakeholders; able to influence behavior and opinions based on knowledge and experience
  • Have strong numeric, analytical and problem-solving skills with eye for detail
  • Have good PC skills with an advanced knowledge of Excel, Access, knowledge of Oracle and SQL is desired but not essential
  • Able to work, always innovating, in a rapidly change environment, prioritising accordingly
  • Be self-motivated to get things done, take initiative
  • Able to easily develop a strong network of contacts throughout the business and industry, gaining the support and commitment of key players to key projects
  • Experience with at least one of the aviation operational categories (Engineering & Maintenance, Airline Operations, Customer Operations, etc.) is desired but not essential
  • Experience as business intelligence analyst is desired but not essential
  • Ability to identify and understand key drivers in any scenario
  • Ability to challenge assumptions, to ask critical questions and to think out of the box
  • Evidence of making decisions & influencing others to deliver to high standards in a fast-moving operational environment
  • Effective communication and reporting skills, able to tailor messaging for different stakeholders
  • Good sense of commercial acumen & financial awareness
  • Able to travel regularly to meet with suppliers and internal stakeholders, for example
  • Able to work according to TUI values and procurement policies
