Job Description

The way we work across TUI Group Airlines is changing. Our goal in Ground Operations is to be a truly integrated service provider to the TUI Group Airlines. We are embarking on a journey to unite our Ground Operations teams, creating one cohesive pan-European organisation, driving harmonisation and best practice in what we do and capitalising on our collective size to deliver economies of scale, whilst fostering a common culture of excellence in quality and delivery.

As a Ground Operations Technology Specialist, you will act as the liaison between TUI Airline Ground Operations (TAGO) and Airline IT providing support in the key areas of airport customer service, on-time performance and airport ancillary sales. This is to ensure our airport business IT systems are operating at the optimal level of performance and make sure users are suitably qualified and trained. In addition, using your detailed understanding of software and business processes, you will recommend and implement software and business process changes that will support continued improvement in the key areas of the role.

This position can be considered on a hybrid working model with approximately half of your time based in on of our office locations: Luton, Zaventem, Rijswijk, Hannover or Stockholm. Some travel may also be required.

ABOUT THE JOB

You will:

  • Act as liaison between business (TUI Airline Ground Operations) and Airline IT. You play a crucial role through analysing, commenting and evaluating business requirements for Ground Ops IT system related matters
  • Translate these requirements to functional and technical briefings, providing Airline IT with expert business input. Together with Airline IT you ensure regulatory compliance, optimal service delivery and ground handling agent processes and training delivery
  • Be responsible for functional testing and quality checks of airport systems from a business perspective, together with necessary stakeholders. You will manage testing requirements to prioritize defects by business impact monitoring progress to closure
  • Project manage (or provide expertise) in case of individual deployment of systems/software, bringing together all stakeholders to ensure a successful delivery of functionality
  • Provide support and expertise to internal & external customers on airport IT related check-in & weight and balance systems – assess competency in use and recommend training and support on all aspects of the TUI Airline IT systems
  • Undertake detailed analysis of airport IT infrastructure, and together with Airline IT, assess suitability/compatibility for the deployment of Group Airlines airport IT systems and internal departmental software
  • Ensure the systems content of the Ground Operations Manuals (GOM) and Internal Procedures Manual (IPM) and other processes and procedures correctly reflect the way the systems work
  • As a business user expert you evaluate the impact of software upgrades from the supplier of the systems and new 3rd party software making recommendations on the acceptability
  • Identify and make suggestions for constant innovation in the area of airport IT systems and the impact on overall customer experience at the different airports
  • Participate in operational On-Call and Emergency Response (ERP) rosters if required and undertake projects and any other reasonable tasks as and when required by the business.


ABOUT YOU

  • Prior experience in a Business Analyst or similar position would be highly regarded
  • Sound knowledge of Ground Handling procedures and processes including regulatory and government requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with eye for detail, at the same time maintaining an overview
  • Well developed analytical and reporting skills
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly and in depth
  • Subject Matter Expert in DCS (Departure Control) and Ground Handling systems
  • Ability to produce and deliver training to Ground Handlers on the DCS system
  • Good knowledge of English is required, knowledge of other languages is desired but not essential
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to work comfortably across cultures and markets
  • Ability to recognise opportunities for continuous improvement and suggest implementation solutions through TUI IT systems
