Job Description

Are you passionate about delivering high-quality cruise hotel refurbishment projects and ensuring they meet the requirements for an attractive, consistent product offering? Join our team as a Cruise Hotel Refurbishment Manager, where you will plan and oversee the implementation of hotel maintenance and refurbishment work on cruise ships. Reporting to the Head of Technical Operations, you will ensure that the maintenance and refurbishment of ship’s hotel facilities are conducted in a cost-effective manner and comply with all International, Flag State, and Port State legal requirements.

*With a fleet of ships, comes the need for ship and dry dock visits. Please note that overseas business travel is an essential part of the role.

ABOUT THE JOB

  • Deliver in-service CAPEX work packages through work scope creation, tendering work packages, and planning seamless delivery considering guest interactions with the vessel in operation.
  • Manage assigned refurbishment and maintenance projects throughout the fleet, including estimating project costs, preparing business cases for funding applications, and producing detailed work specifications for competitive tendering.
  • Monitor competitive tendering processes alongside the Marella Commercial team, assessing suppliers’ proposals for consistency with design intent, value, quality, and practicality.
  • Create project plans to integrate into main technical project plans and control documentation of drawings and approvals within other departments and external partners.
  • Assess the condition of vessels through ship visits and add to fleet 5YP, agreeing and implementing standards of operation and maintenance with business partners and suppliers.
  • Oversee business partners and suppliers to ensure their projects use materials and equipment suitable for maritime use while complying with all maritime legislation.
  • Monitor Classification Society and Flag State requirements, supporting the survey process and ensuring certification associated with hotel facilities is maintained.
  • Develop and implement standardisation of hotel refurbishment materials and equipment in all front-of-house areas, liaising closely with the Hotel Technical Manager.
  • Attend vessel maintenance periods, managing allocated hotel refurbishment projects and associated budgets, and act as a team member of the Cruise emergency response team, ensuring availability to respond to any cruise-related incidents.

ABOUT YOU

  • Recognised qualification and/or substantial role-based training from either marine design or hotel refurbishment industry and related trades.
  • Extensive experience in the planning and delivery of ship refurbishment projects.
  • Willingness and genuine interest in developing and expanding existing expertise to enhance the customer product offering on Marella Cruises ships.
  • Understanding and experience of achieving compliance with maritime regulation and working with Classification Societies.
  • Broad working knowledge of the range of equipment and materials manufacturers and suppliers supporting the marine hotel refurbishment industry.
  • Proven people and project management skills, with a track record in meeting tight deadlines in a pressurised environment.
  • Analytical, logical, and methodical approach, with clear, articulate communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proactive, dynamic self-starter who can work independently and build relationships both within a team and with other organisations.
