Job Description

Enablers is a global team within TUI technology responsible for the effective delivery of IT capabilities that support our product teams in building a world-class global digital travel experience using APIs, cloud & on-premises platforms and DevOps methodologies.

We are a multi-disciplinary team of experts across Architecture, Engineering, DevOps and Agile Delivery providing services across the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands.

The Cloud Network Engineer is a practitioner and an advocate of state-of-the-art cloud engineering practices. Working in an agile environment and keeping up with the ever-evolving technical landscape the Cloud Network Engineer is a lifelong learner and likes to think outside the box. The Cloud Network Engineer we are looking for, has excellent knowledge of network technologies, but has made the decision to step into the world of cloud and is developing their skills in this area.

ABOUT THE JOB

  • As a Cloud Network Engineer, you will be part of a cross-functional team that enables networking engineering skills and capabilities across TUI.
  • Currently using on prem & Cloud technologies, we are looking to expand our network capability further into the Cloud, you will be one of a small group of network engineers building out this capability.
  • Within your team, you will design and implement secure, scalable, cloud-native solutions and be responsible for driving architecture, design, development, security and operations.
  • Use your strong technical skills to work with your colleagues to improve expertise in cloud solution architectures, infrastructure-as-code approaches, cloud-focused DevSecOps capabilities, tooling, processes, ways of working and the continuous improvement of CI/CD and automation.

Responsibilities will include :

  • Ensuring 24/7 system availability.

  • Designing and implementing cloud based solutions as well as supporting them operationally, with a focus on the automation of operations
  • Provide services according to the service definition or the design and quality agreed with the customer
  • Support network-specific tasks in the context of application migrations.
  • Analyse existing systems in terms of performance, utilisation and degree of utilisation as well as advise customers or application developers on cost optimisation, tuning potentials and performance effects.
  • Develop and implement backup and recovery concepts.
  • Develop and implement appropriate procedures and standards and monitor compliance with privacy and data security requirements.
  • Ensure up-to-date documentation of the assigned connections and network components.
  • Administration of different network related systems and technologies including 2nd level Support and troubleshooting

ABOUT YOU

  • Experience with network technologies like WAN, LAN, W-LAN, 802.1X (Network Access Control), Firewalling, Load balancing, Routing, Switching and VPN, SD-WAN. Including vendors such as Cisco, F5, and Palo Alto
  • Knowledge of different protocols/services like DNS, DHCP, SSL etc.
  • Open minded for new technologies and solutions
  • Proven hands-on experience with AWS and in designing and implementing scaled cloud systems with a focus on solution architecture, using a range of tools and services, infrastructure-as-code, DevSecOps and security engineering practices
  • Expected to define and maintain standards, best practices for managing Amazon Web Services (AWS) resources and ensuring teams follow appropriate processes
  • Strong understanding of scripting languages, e.g. Terraform, Python
  • Good experience with CI/CD, preferably Gitlab
  • Associate level or higher AWS certification
  • Up-to-date knowledge of cybersecurity threats, current best practices, threat modelling and risk mitigation techniques
  • Willingness to be on call (7x24) and to travel.
