
Bond Manager
Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Bond Manager to oversee the accurate administration of bonded stock, excise duties, customs duties and VAT at our Regional Distribution Centre in Magor. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations, maintaining robust audit trails, and supporting the smooth operation of duty-related processes across the site.
Working closely with operational teams and the Central Customs & Excise Manager, you'll monitor bonded stock activities, manage duty declarations, implement legislative changes, and provide expert guidance on customs and excise requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail, a good understanding of customs and excise regulations, and a passion for accuracy and compliance
- To ensure RDC Magor Mentor Master Files are accurate and that amendments are keyed in a timely manner to accommodate new legislation or data information updates.
- To ensure RDC Magor duty declarations and all other document submissions are accurate and posted to H.M Revenue & Customs in a timely manner.
- To ensure RDC Magor complies with all relevant H.M Revenue & Customs Notices, and to immediately advise the central Customs and Excise Manager of all irregularities.
- To effectively monitor all RDC Magor areas and functions that affect tax payments, ensuring warehouse efficiency standards are met and maintained.
- To ensure that all reported stock shortages/surpluses on arrival at RDC Magor are endorsed on the delivery warrants, closing off EMCS E-AD movements.
- To implement changes of legislation at RDC Magor as directed by the Central Customs and Excise Manager
- To maintain close contact with the Central Customs and Excise Manager on all problem issues, system amendments, new legislation and contact with H.M Revenue & Customs.
- To maintain the RDC Magor Duty Deferment Monitoring spreadsheet.
- To monitor RDC Magor Stock Integrity Team work on bonded products (e.g. damages, stock adjustments, counts) and liaise with them as necessary on any issues,
- Manage the stock adjustments pertaining to a Chancellors Budget, where excise duty rates are increased.
- To ensure all RDC Magor goods in staff are fully trained as necessary on Locator/Mentor for intake of dutiable products.
- To ensure that all staff are fully aware of H.M Revenue & Customs regulations
- To action daily the Locator/Mentor reconciliation report, escalating any issues to the Central Customs and Excise Manager and RDC Magor Stock Administration Manager
- Good understanding of HMRC processes and legislation
- Good understanding of warehouse and transport processes
- Super user knowledge of Mentor System
- Effective communicator at all levels
- Methodical approach to figures and reporting.
