What you’ll do:
Title: SAP iXp Intern – Software Development
Location: Newport Beach, California / Hybrid
Expected start date: March 2025
Data-driven insights and improvements and data science in development productivity engineering becomes more and more relevant in the software industry and for SAP. Common frameworks like SPACE, DevEx, and DORA as well as flow and technical debt metrics are partially established at SAP, but not commonly applied.
This internship project aims at discovering, elaborating, consolidating, and prototyping the most promising use cases for development productivity engineering and respective productivity metrics at SAP.
Your tasks include investigate the available data and generate insights. E.g.:Release Confidence Scoring: Combine data from GitHub (PR approvals, test coverage), CI/CD pipelines (build and test success rates), and tools like ServiceNow (incident backlog) to generate a “release confidence score.” Use this score to determine the readiness of a release based on historical trends and risk analysis. Such a solution can eventually be rolled out to up to 20,000 developers at via our Hyperspace Portal Platform. The work will also include evaluating the potential impact for SAP development in terms of productivity, job satisfaction and / or other benefits for an organization while taking common product standards and architecture guidelines into account.

We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stay curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.
- Education: Bachelors or Masters in a related field. Student from Hasso Plattner Institute highly preferred.
- Eligibility: Must be currently enrolled, or recently graduated (start date must be within 6 months of graduation date) from a coding academy/bootcamp, apprenticeship, associate, bachelor’s, master’s or JD/PhD program.
- Outstanding grades and academic referrals
- Experience in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) as well as
- Commercial Software Development and Cloud Operations
- A solid understanding of the entire cloud software development lifecycle incl. DevOps
- A data-driven, systemic thinking, and continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to solve complex topics and drive results across board areas at SAP
- Excellent team player and collaboration skills
- Excellent communication skills with strong empathy
- Fluency in English language (both written and spoken)
