Job Description

As a Software Engineering Team Lead at Qodea you’ll be at the forefront of cloud technology. You’ll work alongside market-leading GCP Engineering teams (Data Engineers, Data Analysts, ML Engineers, Platform Engineers) to deliver cutting edge cloud solutions, with a constant focus on delivering tangible benefits for our diverse set of customer organisations.

You’ll work closely with customers to assess and understand their technical requirements, and ensure Qodea’s proposed solutions are fit for purpose. You’ll provide technical leadership on projects from the information and discovery stages, through the initial concept and design and on to implementation, build and support.

Exposure to a wide variety of technologies and software is a given and you will be expected to investigate the use of new technologies as they become available.

You’ll lead a team of talented developers, providing guidance and mentoring as they work with our customers, helping them to achieve their professional development goals. The team is diverse and creative and is made up of individuals with various technical backgrounds and differing levels of experience.

If you have a strong development background, great communication and team leadership skills and are passionate about providing a great service for customers, this job would be a great opportunity for you.

Please note: Prior GCP experience is desirable, but not essential for this position. A strong background in other cloud providers (AWS, Azure) is great provided you have the willingness to upskill with the Google stack.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing, developing, and implementing software solutions using Google Cloud services.
  • Building trust and positive relationships with stakeholders at customer organisations.
  • Utilising your technical experience to determine feasibility of solution proposals.
  • Provide technical leadership on client engagements.
  • Leading a small team of Software Engineers, including mentoring, one-to-ones, professional development plans.
  • Gain a deep understanding of customer priorities and business goals, to translate requirements into a viable technical solution.
  • Nurture a culture of ongoing enhancement within the department, fostering a mindset of continuous progression.
  • Provide senior-level troubleshooting support to facilitate prompt and effective resolution when issues arise.
  • Work closely with the Presales and Project Delivery Teams to ensure we exceed customers’ requirements and expectations.

Requirements

  • Significant experience as a Software Engineer in enterprise environments using Python, Java, Javascript, Typescript, C#, Node.JS or other languages.
  • Understanding of cloud native applications and being able to apply that knowledge to design robust and scalable solutions (ideally on GCP but can consider those with Azure or AWS experience).
  • Experience in technical projects; ideally in a structured methodology like; Agile, Scrum, Kanban, etc.
  • Experience in mentoring and supporting peers and engineering teams, fostering best practices.
  • Ability to grasp non-functional project requirements, with a drive to delivering robust, secure, scalable and high-performing software.
  • Lead client engagements and take the lead on client-facing delivery projects.

Location:

This role can be either fully remote or hybrid based depending on your preference. We have offices in London, Manchester, Swindon and Edinburgh in the UK. You can choose to work from any of these office locations as often as you like. There is no mandatory office working, but you might be expected to travel to offices or customer sites for specific meetings or events.
