Senior HR Business Partner

People

Prolific

Prolific is not just another player in the AI space – we are the architects of the human data infrastructure that's reshaping the landscape of AI development. In a world where foundational AI technologies are increasingly commoditized, it's the quality and diversity of human-generated data that truly differentiates products and models.

The Role

Leveraging your deep expertise in HR practices and employment law, you will play a pivotal role in supporting business leaders, and their teams, and aligning HR strategy with key business objectives. With a focus on support and advising leadership, you will provide strategic HR advice to drive performance, leadership development, and cultural alignment, while supporting the Head of HR in the implementation of key people initiatives.

Reporting directly to the Head of HR, you will collaborate with leaders across the business to ensure HR strategies are effectively embedded in day-to-day operations. You will manage complex employee relations cases, lead change management initiatives, and drive performance management efforts. Your role is both strategic and operational, providing high-level HR consultancy while ensuring compliance with employment law and company policies.

What you'll be doing

  • Strategic Partnering: Serve as the main point of contact for your business area(s) and collaborate with Prolific leaders to align HR strategies with business goals, driving people initiatives that improve performance and create a high-performing, inclusive culture.
  • Championing our Culture: You will role-model value-driven business partnerships. Supporting the continuous improvement of Prolific’s culture, promoting adaptability and growth at every level.
  • Change Management Leadership: Manage large-scale change initiatives, including organisational design, team restructures, and leadership transitions, ensuring minimal disruption and strong communication across teams.
  • HR Business Partnering: Act as a strategic partner to different business units, supporting them with tailored people strategies and helping teams achieve their goals while maintaining a cohesive, company-wide approach to people management.
  • Employee Relations: Manage complex and high-impact employee relations issues, offering guidance on disciplinary actions, grievances, and performance improvement plans.
  • Performance Management: Alongside the Head of HR and People Operations team, you’ll lead the development and implementation of performance management programs, ensuring alignment with our business objectives and ensuring a feedback-rich culture.
  • Leadership, Development & Coaching: Act as a mentor and coach to leadership, supporting leadership development initiatives, and driving succession planning and performance.
  • Providing Data-Driven Insights: Analyse HR metrics, such as turnover, engagement, and performance, to identify trends and provide data-driven recommendations to leadership, and mitigate any risks to Prolific’s success.
  • Operational HR Management: You’ll focus on the day-to-day management of HR functions with a core business area(s), such as employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, and compliance with labour laws.
  • Policy Implementation: You will be responsible for bringing Prolific’s people strategy to life, through your interactions, and actionable HR policies and procedures. This includes ensuring that legal requirements are met and that Prolific has fair and equitable policies in place.
  • Compliance & Risk Mitigation: Ensure compliance with UK, US, and EU employment laws, identifying potential risks and advising on proactive solutions to mitigate these risks.
  • Global Workforce Strategy: You’ll support Prolific’s expanding global footprint; navigating employment regulations in new markets, ensuring international employees have a seamless experience, and building localised people strategies that align with the core of Prolfiic’s culture.
  • Leadership Development Programs: You’ll contribute to, and ensure the coaching and development of Prolific’s current and future leaders is executed seamlessly, helping to create pathways for team career development that align with the company’s evolving business needs.
  • Talent Advocacy: You will elevate our talent selection process and be a rigorous bar raiser, ensuring we only attract and hire the most exceptional talent. By closely collaborating with leaders and teams, you will challenge existing hiring practices, implementing innovative approaches and assessments that identify not just technical skills, but also cultural fit and potential for future growth.

What you’ll bring

  • CIPD qualification with extensive experience in HR business partnering, ideally in a tech or high-growth company.
  • Proven track record in leading strategic HR initiatives, including change management and leadership development programs.
  • Strong employee relations experience, capable of managing complex, high-stakes cases.
  • Expertise in employment law across the UK and US, with experience in managing global HR issues.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leaders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to influence and drive decision-making.
  • Resilience and adaptability in leading leaders and teams through periods of growth, change, or uncertainty, with a proactive approach to solving challenges and ensuring business continuity.
  • Strong change management skills, with the ability to lead cultural transformation and implement company changes while maintaining a positive and engaging work environment.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to balance both strategic and operational responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, ensuring HR policies and practices create an inclusive and fair workplace culture.
