Job Description

What do we do?

Paddle offers SaaS companies a completely different approach to their payment infrastructure. Instead of assembling and maintaining a complex stack of payments-related apps and services, we’re a Merchant of Record for our customers. That means we take away 100% of the pain of payment fragmentation. It’s faster, safer, cheaper, and, above all, way better.

We’re backed by investors including KKR, FTV Capital, Kindred, Notion, and 83North and serve over 3000 software sellers in 245 territories globally.

The Role:

We’re looking for a Paralegal to join our Legal Team. As a member of the Legal Team you will enjoy an extremely varied role, delivering first-rate assistance on legal matters across multiple operational territories. The Legal Team is intrinsically integrated into Paddle’s business and you will be required to collaborate cross functionally, empowering the business to achieve its goals.

Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will enable the Legal Team to deliver timely and effective advice to the business, whilst proposing creative solutions to ensure the department remains ever “better than yesterday”.

The role is primarily based in the United Kingdom, however, the tasks the team face are global in scope. We are also a digital first business, so you will have the opportunity to determine if and when you attend the office in person.

What you'll do:

  • Complete all legal administrative and documentation management support tasks;

  • Prepare first drafts of various legal documentation, according to instructions by senior colleagues;

  • Take charge of and ensure effective contract and other document management and monitoring through our contract lifecycle management platform;

  • Assist with regulatory and corporate governance matters, including maintaining and filing company records, board meetings minutes, shareholders resolutions, Board of directors changes, annual reports etc;

  • Support the People Team with employment related matters (including Visa sponsorship);

  • Build out and maintain self-serve tools, playbooks and guides for the wider business;

  • Process and review various documentation, and conduct legal research;

  • Instruct and manage external legal counsel and monitor external legal spend;

  • Filing, scanning , proof-reading and other ad-hoc tasks.

We'd love to hear from you:

  • A law degree or equivalent (GDL, LPC);

  • You have demonstrable learning agility, bags of common sense and are not afraid of handling issues you have never dealt with before;

  • You are driven, able to work independently, organised to a fault and a pleasure to work with;

  • You have understanding and experience of a fast moving workplace environment, preferably in a tech business or the payments sector;

  • You are an excellent and persuasive communicator;

  • You are commercially minded and able to deliver creative and helpful solutions to a rapidly growing business.

Everyone is welcome at Paddle

At Paddle, we’re committed to removing invisible barriers, both for our customers and within our own teams. We recognise and celebrate that every Paddler is unique and we welcome every individual perspective. As an inclusive employer, we don’t care if, or where, you studied, what you look like or where you’re from. We’re more interested in your craft, curiosity, passion for learning and what you’ll add to our culture. We encourage you to apply even if you don’t match every part of the job ad, especially if you’re part of an underrepresented group.

Please let us know if there’s anything we can do to better support you through the application process and in the workplace. We will do everything we can to support any accommodations needed. We’re committed to building a diverse team where everyone feels safe to be their authentic self. Let’s grow together.
