The Role:
We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter who will bring with them a solid background in leadership and financial crime risk management in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. You will manage 3 teams of analysts who are responsible for onboarding and monitoring accounts for financial crime related risks.
As the Onboarding and Risk Manager, you will, report to, and support the Risk and Compliance Manager to identify and drive improvements to ensure our risk processes are holistic, compliant, and of exceptional standards.
Your key responsibilities will be:
Managing the day to day operations of the Risk teams
Growing and developing the Risk teams
Provide support on complex applications/cases and decision making to the teams
Documenting and maintaining/improving procedures
Building relationships both internal and external to Risk
Overseeing and assisting with risk management
In addition to your key day to day responsibilities you will also collaborate with the Legal, Customer/Buyer Support and Product teams in projects to help improve the Risk & Compliance function at Paddle. You will also have the opportunity to assist with recommendations or decisions on company risk related matters when the Risk and Compliance Manager is unavailable.
Previous experience in line management is required as you will work to support the growth and development of the teams. Knowledge of scheme rules and legislation around acquiring would be beneficial as well as any prior experience building/updating risk related processes.
This role is ideally based in the UK, but we are willing to consider applications globally.
What you'll do:
Line manage the Onboarding Risk, Risk Monitoring, and Compliance Risk Teams
Provide expertise regarding onboarding/screening/monitoring processes
Help to manage key internal relationships
Help to support the development of processes and procedures
Help to document processes and procedures internally, and externally as necessary
Handle complex escalations
Be confident in making judgement calls (at times based on limited information)
Communicate in a clear and concise manner
Provide expertise in Card Scheme rules and global legislation around payments
Create and deploy new hire training programs as well as other training opportunities
Help to develop the Risk teams and Paddle through sharing knowledge, experiences, and discussing best practices
We'd love to hear from you if:
You have 4+ years experience in Onboarding/Credit, Risk, or Compliance spaces
You have 2+ years experience working in Merchant Acquiring, E-Commerce, or a similar role at a FinTech
You have experience in team management
You are comfortable working with team members in multiple time zones
You have a positive attitude and enjoy supporting and nurturing others
You bring solutions to the table and you aren’t afraid to point out where we’re going wrong
You have excellent communication skills, and are a fluent English speaker/writer
You love reading and learning about new ways of doing things. There’s always a better way
You’re comfortable with a little chaos and uncertainty. We move fast and sometimes decisions are made quickly and without all of the information
You have experience and understanding of scheme requirements (desired, but not required)
