Where you’ll work:
Depending on the needs of your business area, we expect hub based people to be in the office at least once a week, and to go to OVO Connection events in-person.
You’ll be assigned to the closest one of our three hub offices, Bristol, Glasgow, or London; unless your role requires field-based work. Each hub has accessible spaces to park your laptop, is designed to inspire people, help them connect and bring big ideas to life.

This role in a nutshell:
The Energy Industry in the UK is in the midst of a huge transformation. Smart metering kicked off this transformation with subsequent phases focussing around transition of core Industry services such as Market Wide Half Hourly Settlement and innovation of Gas Industry services.
As an Energy Operations Process/ Team Lead at OVO you’ll play a key role in allowing us to drive efficiency and excellence in the Ops space to support OVO in meeting it’s Plan Zero goals.

In this case, that comes in the form of Energy Operations. Within Energy Operations we need to ensure we are driving excellence in our processes, our people and our delivery and this role plays a key part in that.
Your key outcomes will be:
- Own a group of processes, managing end to end delivery through the exception lifecycle from reporting through to resolution including thorough documentation and version control.
- Responsible for performance of owned backlogs and associated KPI’s including tracking, updating, performance insight and recovery planning
- Develop an end to end understanding of your processes including interdependencies, system interactions, stakeholders and key metrics such as value/ impact metrics leading and lagging
- Understand and make recommendations for resourcing requirements across owned processes for backlog optimisation
- Coordinate and prioritise workloads across a mixture of on and offshore teams dedicated to your process area.
- Own process change via adherence to change process to include root cause analysis and mitigation, understanding change impacts, change coordination
- Lead and drive day to day relationships with external Industry bodies understanding how they impact processes up and down stream to drive best practice and performance against industry standards.
- Engage with area leads in defining the departmental priorities and supporting in the creation of plans/roadmaps.
- Work with stakeholders in other Ops teams and wider business teams to Identify and drive up and downstream improvements impacting your processes area.
- Use reporting to make data based recommendations on how processes & performance can be improved and implemented, monitoring success and iterating improvements.
- Ensure processes remain compliant and up to date with latest Industry regulations.
- Lead in our transformation to Agile by coordinating scrum setup, Agile ceremonies, and maintenance of agreed governance and tooling
- Manage, coach and mentor a team of onshore process experts and agents to help them develop their knowledge and skills.
- Via sprints, manage workloads across on and offshore teams for maximum efficiency based on agreed prioritisation and value delivery.
- Deal with escalated customer queries ensuring swift and satisfactory resolution.
- Ensure that high levels of team engagement are maintained, using incentives and rewards to celebrate exceptional performance.
- Manage team welfare ensuring tools, processes and development are in place to identify and help with peak wellbeing.

- Proven ability to engage productively with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience of working in a fast paced environment where prioritisation is required.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills - able to articulate results clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders.
You won’t like this role if you…
- Are uncomfortable having honest performance based conversations with onshore teams and offshore partners.
- Don’t have a deep understanding of the energy industry including settlement, data flows and industry processes.
- Don’t enjoy balancing multiple mixed discipline priorities in a fast paced agile environment.

We’ll pay you between £33,050 and £40,000, depending on your specific skills and experience.

You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
