Job Description

You will be our in-house expert on copyright and permissions, advising the organisation on the best ways to meet our third-party content needs. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across Oak and our partners, to ensure that all stakeholders are trained and supported in meeting third-party content use requirements.

You will ensure that rights and permissions work is managed effectively through the production pipeline, resolving challenges to meet project deadlines. You will also be responsible for creating effective systems and processes, tracking rights and permissions activity, and managing related budgets.

You will work as part of our wider Production Team, and line manage a Rights and Permissions Officer who has responsibility for day-to-day clearance activity.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the management of copyright and permissions processes, procedures and policies.
  • Lead the development and delivery of training and provide ongoing support and advice in relation to copyright requirements and the use of third-party content for internal colleagues and external curriculum partners.
  • Develop and manage a high-performing rights and permissions officer.
  • Coordinate the management of third-party content requests and clearances, adhering to budget and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Manage a six-figure budget.

You will need:

  • 5+ years experience and extensive expertise in copyright and permissions, preferably with a qualification in Copyright Law.
  • Proven success in managing the processes, procedures and policies related to copyright and permissions with meticulous record-keeping skills, preferably with experience in digital asset management.
  • Proven success in line management and building effective working relationships with internal colleagues and external partners.

WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CLOSE THE ROLE EARLY

The role is full-time (36 hours) and we work a 4.5 day week or 9 day fortnight (alternate Fridays or half Fridays off). This is a predominantly remote role with occasional in-person events and activities.

We offer flexible working where you can base yourself at home or in an office; whichever works best for you. We believe in continually getting better as an organisation and as individuals and so there are plenty of opportunities for growth and a generous Learning and Development policy. Our team is supported with generous maternity, paternity and adoption leave so that their families get a fantastic start.

If Oak sounds like somewhere you could do your life’s best work then we would love to hear from you. We use Applied platform to support diversity in our recruitment.

Oak is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age. We particularly encourage applications from Black and minority ethnic candidates who are currently under-represented.

We are here to improve pupil outcomes and close the disadvantage gap by supporting teachers to teach, and pupils to access a high-quality curriculum.

We achieve this through building and developing our brilliant team who then collaborate with experts from across different sectors to produce the Oak platform.
