Employee Relations Manager, UK

Employment type:  Full time

4 days/week at home

A little flex time

Job Description

We’re on a mission to create a diverse group of future leaders. We do that through professional apprenticeships because we believe learning on-the-job creates a more equitable and successful path to careers. We find, train and support talented individuals, wherever they are in their career journey, and equip them with the in-demand tech, software engineering, and data skills to transform their careers and deliver a better route to growth for their employers.

We’ve had some big achievements. We hit 10,000 apprentices in our community - and counting. We launched one of the largest data apprenticeship programs in the UK with Jaguar Land Rover, and we’ve partnered with companies like Mars, Verizon and CitiBank. Not to forget becoming a mission-driven EdTech unicorn after our $220m Series D.

But we aren’t stopping here. Join Multiverse and build the future of learning at work.

The Opportunity

At Multiverse, our People Team is here to support every individual to fulfill their potential - and therefore Multiverse’s.

We’ll look to our Employee Relations Manager to support our People Operations Team in developing and maintaining a trusting environment with our employees where they can achieve more than they ever thought was possible. You will lead us in defining our Performance Ecosystem and coach our managers to deliver core performance and development principles.

You’ll have the opportunity to build out Employee Relations at scale by advising and guiding stakeholders across the business on a broad range of employee relations topics, from grievances and disciplinaries to conflict resolution, settlement agreements and policy interpretation, whilst building and maintaining a tailored approach to how we manage employee relations at Multiverse.

As a company we have a big vision and big plans, so if you want to work in a place where you can grow, develop and make a massive impact this is the place for you

In this role, you will:

  • Organise and manage an engaging Performance and Development cycle that enables growth and development

  • Work closely with our People Partners to create and embed a Development Strategy where employees feel like they can take ownership of their development

  • Work with our Learning & Development Team to build bespoke training programs that enable our managers and employees to develop

  • Advise and provide guidance to stakeholders across the business on a wide range of employee relations cases which will include performance management, disciplinaries, conflict resolution, settlements and relocations

  • Work with our People Operations Team to create and streamline inclusive processes that outline how we manage employee relations at Multiverse

  • Working closely with the Payroll Team to ensure that payroll-affected changes are notified and processed

  • Collate and analyse information, producing reports to contribute to decision making, the development of managerial insight and monitoring of performance on ER cases

  • Recognise trends through the production of analytics which could determine future activity and work with our People Partnering team to implement solutions across the company

  • Proactively maintain and apply current knowledge of employment law, firm policies and practices to manage ER cases from start to completion

  • Communicate to the business about upcoming legislation changes and new policy developments

The right candidate:

  • ER wizz: You have demonstrable experience in delivering an employee relations strategy (in an ER specific role) in a fast-paced scale up, with deep UK and US experience

  • Emotionally intelligent: You will be great with people and know how to handle sensitive situations with care

  • The job is never done: You pride yourself on your attention to detail and you understand that you can only expect excellence if you demonstrate it yourself

  • Continuous learner: You stay up to date in the employee relations space, bringing forward innovative solutions to complex problems and always striving to learn more

  • Highly organised: We operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment so you need to be strongly well-organised with the ability to juggle priorities

  • Adaptable: Multiverse is constantly growing and developing new processes so we need someone who is flexible and adaptable, taking change in your stride and thriving on the space that this provides

  • Data Driven: You approach all situations with an inquisitive mindset and rely on your data analytics skills to make informed decisions

  • Need for speed: You love getting stuff done, and know what it's like to work in hypergrowth tech orgs, where we need to deliver at pace

  • ‘Can do’ attitude: We have a lot to get through so poking holes in issues and not focussing on solutions is not an option. You will need a positive 'can do' attitude to get stuff done!

  • Integrity is paramount: You are honest, ethical and dependable with a high level of professionalism

Benefits:

  • Time off - 27 days holiday, plus 7 additional days off: 1 life event day, 2 volunteer days and 4 company-wide wellbeing days and 8 bank holidays per year

  • Health & Wellness- private medical Insurance with Bupa, a medical cashback scheme, life insurance, gym membership & wellness resources through Gympass and access to Spill - all in one mental health support

  • Hybrid & remote work offering - with weekly or monthly visits to the London office and the opportunity to work abroad 45 days a year

  • Team fun - weekly socials, company wide events and office snacks!

Every applicant and employee is afforded the same opportunities regardless of race, colour, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender, gender identity or expression, or veteran status.
