Join Mott MacDonald’s dynamic and growing Water team in Pittsburgh, where your expertise will help shape some of the most transformative water infrastructure projects across the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest. Our Pittsburgh office is a hub for delivering forward-thinking solutions to aging infrastructure, climate adaptation, and water quality challenges.

Key Projects we’ve been involved with:

  • Ohio River Tunnel – We’re the design lead of this deep tunnel system, the first of three being built in Pittsburgh as part of ALCOSAN’s $2B Clean Water Plan.

  • Cohocksink Stormwater Project – A nature-based solution to urban flooding, integrating green infrastructure to manage stormwater sustainably in Philadelphia.

  • Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District – Design lead of multiple deep tunnel systems in greater Cleveland region

  • Pittsburgh Water – Supporting Pittsburgh Water in development and implementation of their capstone Water Reliability Program.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams on water resources, water treatment, and wastewater projects from planning through construction.

  • Provide management and technical oversight on projects involving water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, stormwater systems, pipelines, and pump stations.

  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets.

  • Support business development by identifying new opportunities and contributing to proposal efforts.

  • Maintain and grow client relationships to support long-term success.

  • Apply engineering principles to solve complex challenges and deliver high-quality outcomes.

  • Estimate project costs and support commercial planning

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering (Master’s preferred).

  • 10+ years of experience in engineering and/or project management.

  • Proven experience with public or private water and wastewater utilities in the U.S.

  • Strong background in planning, design, and delivery of water-related infrastructure.

  • PE license in Pennsylvania (or ability to obtain within one year); additional state licenses in Mid-Atlantic and Midwest a plus.

  • A collaborative leader who can mentor junior staff and manage multidisciplinary teams.

  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
