Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Should be well versed in Network development, Calibration/Validation, Demand matrix Development and Estimation using PTV VISUM.
  • Experience in Public Transport Modelling and Highway Modelling along with Variable Demand Modelling using PTV VISUM.
  • Should be capable of independently developing the technical reports like Base Year Validation Report, Forecasting Report, Data Processing Report, Demand Matrix Development Report.
  • Should be able to provide modelling support to Traffic Impact Assessments and designing transportation infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of transport economic assessment,accident analysis, environmental assessments are preferable.
  • Technical responsibility to check and review the work of junior team members.
  • Mentor, train and guide junior staff in strategic modelling tasks using VISUM.
  • Contribute to all reviews for due diligence in regular team meetings, carry out project initiation talks, task scheduling and project execution plan.
  • To communicate with counterpart in lead office/Client office as necessary and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams on project delivery.
  • Evaluate the impact of proposed transportation projects, considering factors such as environmental sustainability, economic feasibility, and social equity.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in transport planning to integrate innovative solutions into projects
  • Along with transportation modelling software, analysis needs to be undertaken using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools like ArcGIS, MapInfo, QGIS.
  • Analyse complex data sets to identify patterns and trends using Power BI, Python, VB.
  • Developing innovative solutions to transportation challenges and continuously improving processes.
  • Collaborate with engineers, urban planners, and policymakers to integrate transportation solutions with land use planning and urban development.
  • Provide technical oversight, reviewing and checking the work of junior team members to ensure accuracy and adherence to project standards.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of common data environments such as ProjectWise, ensuring efficient data management and project collaboration.
  • Analyse technical design problems and offer innovative ideas to improve solutions and processes, ensuring projects meet client and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with counterparts in the lead office/Client office, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure seamless project delivery.

Key Competencies:

  • 8-13 years of experience in strategic transport modelling projects using PTV VISUM. Relevant experience on projects from Australia and New Zealand is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of transport modelling concepts including Highway modelling, Public Transport Systems, Variable Demand Modelling and various traffic assignment techniques along with statistical and mathematical proficiency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, authorities, and stakeholders. Liaison with clients, authorities, stakeholders for approval of submissions
  • Knowledge in other transport modelling application (e.g. VISSIM, AIMSUN) would be an added advantage.
  • Should have experience in mentoring training and guiding junior staff in strategic modelling tasks.
  • Excellent communicational skills and analytical proficiency is mandatory.
  • Ability to produce high quality Technical Reports, Technical Notes and Methodology Notes.
  • Proficient in presenting transport modelling analysis and results to clients and lead offices.
  • Should be proactive and possess ability to work with independently and guide junior staff.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree holder in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
  • Member of recognised institution and working towards chartership.
