Senior Transmission Line Engineer
Auckland or Wellington

Our New Zealand Energy team is growing, supported by increased investment in grid resilience, renewable generation and transmission infrastructure across Aotearoa. We are looking for an experienced Senior Transmission Line Engineer to join our Auckland or Wellington office and play a key role in delivering critical energy projects across New Zealand and the wider Asia‑Pacific region.

Your role

As a Senior Transmission Line Engineer, you will contribute to the planning, design and delivery of overhead transmission line projects, working closely with colleagues across energy, civil, geotechnical and environmental disciplines. You will be a trusted technical contributor, supporting project delivery while helping to grow capability within our local team.

Your work will include:

  • Technical design and checking of overhead transmission lines, including towers, structures, foundations and alignments
  • Supporting projects across feasibility, concept, detailed design and construction phases
  • Working with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient and buildable solutions
  • Assisting with technical inputs to proposals and bids, particularly for energy transmission and grid‑related projects
  • Mentoring and supporting early‑career engineers within the team
  • Contributing to continuous improvement in technical quality, safety and sustainability

About you

You will bring:

  • A degree in civil, structural or electrical engineering (or a related discipline)
  • 5-10 years of experience in OHL engineering environment
  • Proven experience in transmission line engineering, ideally within a consultancy environment
  • Proficient in the use of engineering software like PLS-CADD, TOWER, Pole for line design
  • Experience with overhead line design, tower loading, foundations and route selection
  • Modelling of structures using TOWER, POLE programs
  • Working knowledge of the New Zealand and Australian transmission standards and design practices
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work directly with clients and project teams
  • A collaborative mindset and a genuine interest in mentoring others
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand

Experience working on Transpower or similar grid projects, or toward professional registration, would be an advantage.
