Job Description

Objective of the Overall Assignment: Objective of the Overall Assignment: Manage the Engineering and Procurement Construction (EPC) Contracts of renovation of hospitals/nursing schools, including Proof Checking and Review of Designs and Drawings, and undertake Construction Supervision to ensure (a) renovation of the district hospital and nursing schools as per the specifications and standards in the stipulated time and (b) the hospital, nursing school so renovated are fit for use. The consulting assignment shall include provision of assistance in procurement of contractor services, including but not limited to preparation of RFB documents, preparation of addendum to RFB documents, preparation of replies to bidders’ queries, preparation of bid evaluation report, preparation of contract documents for the renovation works of twenty-five district hospitals, ten nursing schools, and preparation of bid evaluation report.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for day-to-day supervision of construction activity on site and assisting Project Engineer/Manager for submission of daily progress reports and other site-related information.

  • Oversee tests on the engineering services installation like water supply, wastewater management, electrical services, firefighting system, HVAC, Medical gases storage and delivery system, voice and data networking system, building security and surveillance, etc., including any other service not specifically mentioned here but needed for a seamless functioning of a hospital/nursing school during their respective installation stage.

  • Oversee commissioning of Engineering services systems, including its integrated functioning.

  • Maintain site diaries, testing results.

  • Verify the compliance of the various engineering services, systems, and controls installed as per the Works Contract agreement. Ensure availability of the O&M manual for the systems and controls installed.

  • Liaison with the authorities for relocation of utilities and securing supply of utilities required for hospital operation.

  • Carry out field inspections on the Contractor’s setting out of the works in relation to original points, lines, and levels of reference specified in the contract.

  • Measure and value the work output performed by the Contractor and verify statements.

Minimum Qualification:

  • Graduate civil engineer with at least 8 years of on-site experience or diploma civil engineer with at least 12 years of on-site experience in the construction of hospitals/hotels/institutional buildings.

  • Experience of working in renovation and rehabilitation of building works.
