About the Business Unit

Global Delivery Services Centre (GDSC) is a high-impact business unit within Mott MacDonald, dedicated to enhancing project delivery across our global operations.

As part of GDSC, you’ll join a team that champions excellence in both technical and digital disciplines, supporting projects at every stage of the lifecycle—from concept to completion. Role:

You are expected to work with the West Unit of Mott MacDonald’s North America (NASA) region to support the management of commercial risks and create opportunities through sound commercial proposals and robust commercial management of projects.

In this role, you will work closely with the Division General Manager and Unit Commercial Manager of the region, provide training to raise general commercial awareness and to develop general commercial skills within the division, provide oversight of commercial aspects of bids including development of the professional service financial model, implementation of contracting strategy (joint venture, subcontracting, subcontractors), and achievement of affirmation action requirements; support financial challenged projects by providing internal project control services for monitoring, reporting, change control, and claims/disputes preparation. And ensure compliance with commercial related business management systems.

Reporting to a senior member of the team, role holder will be responsible for delivering below outcomes as part of Global Delivery Services Centre, based in India:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive a consistent approach of commercial matters across proposals and projects in the division.
  • Support proposal managers and in some cases lead the development of commercially robust fee estimates including advising on contracting strategy.
  • Support legal review process of teaming agreements, subcontracts, joint venture agreements, and prime contracts.
  • Support proposal teams in understanding key commercial and contractual issues to secure sound and equitable commercial outcomes in contract negotiations.
  • Prepare, with assistance from the company’s legal team, contract agreements, including teaming agreements, subcontracts, and joint venture agreements.
  • Support project managers in the commercial setup of projects, which would include development of appropriates work break down structures, loading of projects in the company’s financial system, and recommend appropriate commercial management process to be implemented on the project.
  • Support project managers with the development of claims and variations.
  • Identify projects where performance improvements are required, ensure the project principal has a clear action plan for recovery, and that it is implemented.
  • Help the Division General Manager with monthly monitoring financial performance of division and reporting to the Unit Commercial Manager.
  • Help preparing training material and provide training to project managers on successful commercial management.
  • Promote all aspects of the company’s business management system relating to commercial management.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Engineering.
  • Minimum 10-years of relevant professional experience in design or construction industry on projects. Experience on infrastructure projects preferred.
  • International projects experience including handling commercial aspects of US projects is required.
  • Experience of professional services fee estimating, project contractual matters, earned value analysis, change management and project procurement methods.
  • Contract and change management negotiation experience with clients and contractors.
  • Proven track record of successful commercial management.
  • Knowledge of risk management as it relates to the engineering industry.
  • Experience with financial performance metrics.
  • Must possess strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Expert knowledge of MS Office 365 and working knowledge of SharePoint.
