We are seeking a California‑licensed Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG) to join our Los Angeles office, playing a pivotal role in strengthening and expanding our engineering geology capability across California. This position supports the delivery of major infrastructure and transportation programs, addressing both near‑term project needs and long‑term technical leadership objectives within the region.

You will work within high‑performing, multidisciplinary teams on technically complex and high‑profile projects that span planning, design, and construction. The role is well suited to an experienced practitioner who enjoys applying deep geological expertise to real‑world challenges, mentoring others, and contributing to infrastructure that delivers lasting public and societal benefit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering geology leadership and technical input across a broad range of infrastructure projects, including transportation, rail, coastal, water, and major civil works
  • Plan, undertake, and interpret geologic and geotechnical investigations, including field mapping, core and borehole logging, desk studies, and interpretation of complex datasets
  • Prepare, review, and approve engineering geology and geotechnical reports, technical memoranda, hazard assessments, and design recommendations
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate geologic hazards such as landslides, slope instability, faulting and seismic risk, liquefaction, coastal erosion, and ground movement
  • Integrate geological conditions into design development, providing guidance on foundations, earthworks, excavation support, retaining systems, and resilience measures
  • Ensure work is delivered in accordance with California regulatory requirements, professional standards, and established quality management and assurance systems
  • Collaborate closely with geotechnical engineers, civil and structural designers, planners, and construction teams to deliver coordinated, risk‑informed solutions
  • Engage confidently with clients, contractors, regulators, and stakeholders, supporting technical discussions, reviews, and approvals
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior and mid‑level staff, supporting capability development and knowledge sharing
  • Contribute to proposals, bids, and work‑winning activities, including scope development, methodology, and technical review, as appropriate

Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will bring a strong combination of technical depth, practical experience, and professional judgment:

  • Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG), State of California (required)
  • 10+ years of professional experience in engineering geology, primarily within a consulting environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large infrastructure or linear projects in complex geological and seismic environments
  • Strong knowledge of California geological conditions, regulatory frameworks, and professional practice standards
  • Proven ability to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary project teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex geotechnical and geological concepts clearly
  • Experience supporting rail, transportation corridor, or major infrastructure programs
  • Background working with large consultancies, public agencies, or major infrastructure owners
  • Confidence providing technical leadership, peer review, and client‑facing support on complex projects
