About the business unit
The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.


Overview of the role

The Energy Transition team within our Energy unit is looking for Senior Electrical Engineers to strengthen the existing EC&I team; providing advisory and design capabilities across a variety of power and energy projects types and technologies in a growing portfolio, supporting our clients in the UK and across Europe as part of the energy transition.

Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Lead and work with the wider project team to develop cost-effective, efficient and innovative solutions to complex problems to create practical designs based on these solutions
  • Working on projects in a variety of stages of maturity, including Design Review, Feasibility Studies, FEED Studies and Detailed Design; Coordinate Electrical delivery on multi-disciplinary project, interfacing with other disciplines , project engineer, project manager and client
  • Preparation and development of Electrical deliverables such as specifications, Single Line Diagrams (SLD), cable calculations, cable block diagrams, plant layouts, cable routing, cable containment design, switchgear configurations philosophies and produce bill of materials/quantities for electrical systems
  • Working with equipment vendors on developing designs of equipment packages and participating in technical evaluations of vendor designs
  • Participation in safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA)
  • Support in developing proposals and bids for the Electrical discipline and contributing to multi-disciplinary proposals
  • Understand CDM and other relevant HSE legislation
  • Provide technical leadership and governance
  • A commitment to promoting health, safety, and wellbeing in the workplace


Candidate specification

Essential:

  • A Degree in a relevant Engineering subject
  • Chartered Engineer (or in the process of obtaining) and Member of relevant Engineering Institute
  • Significant post graduate experience in electrical technical delivery
  • The ability and desire to assume a lead role in the development of electrical deliverables
  • Ability to adapt and work on multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of design and construction of power and energy projects
  • Proven understanding of the design process and ability to demonstrate working knowledge of brief/scope documents, design concepts as well as experienced in producing calculations
  • Detailed working knowledge of national and international codes and standards used within the power and energy sector
  • Experience of working with design software packages such as Trimble, ETAP etc
  • Experience of working with clients and contractors with a diverse range of objectives in achieving a technical solution.


Desirable:

  • Experience within Owner’s Engineer or technical advisory sector
