About the business unit
We help conceive, drive, and implement transport solutions for cities, regions, and asset owners/operators around the globe. From preparing the business case and advising on related issues - such as revenue, procurement, and environmental legislation - to delivering the completed infrastructure and helping maintain it. Our planning, engineering, environmental and management skills cover the whole project cycle. We play a major role in developing and delivering the Global Transport Sector Strategy.

Overview of the role

We are expanding our Aviation Business Advisory Team based in Croydon and are seeking to appoint a Senior Aviation Advisor with experience in air traffic forecasting to support the delivery of traffic forecasting projects and the wider management of the Business Advisory team.

Your role involves contributing at a senior level to the delivery of traffic forecasting studies, drawing upon appropriate analytical and modelling tools or techniques, as well as practical experience working with aviation market data sources.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues on projects for a wide range of clients, including governments, authorities, operators, equity investors and lenders in all types of airport infrastructure development projects and transactions across the world.

You will be part of the world’s leading and multicultural aviation consultancies in the world, with 40+ years of presence in the industry, and a portfolio of 1,000+ aviation projects in 120+ countries.

You will contribute to high‑quality technical outputs and support the successful delivery of project objectives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead, or contribute to, traffic forecasting and market analysis studies.
  • Further develop and maintain in-house built forecasting tools.
  • Contribute to the development and upkeep of best practice user guides for analytical methods used by the team.
  • Ensure reports and analysis are technically robust, clear and quality checked.
  • Maintain awareness of aviation industry trends, guidance and best practices.
  • Manage your various project responsibilities to meet deadlines and delivery commitments.
  • Work effectively with clients, internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the successful preparation of bid / tender submissions.
  • Support project delivery as a deputy Project Manager or as a Project Manager, depending on experience.
  • Support and mentor early career colleagues where applicable.
  • Undertake line management duties where appropriate.
  • Participate in client meetings and site visits both domestically and abroad, as required.

Candidate specification

We are looking for a driven, committed and confident person with relevant aviation or rail / ports experience and a genuine passion for the aviation industry.

You have experience in air traffic forecasting. You may have experience in working closely with colleagues and subconsultants across different disciplines, as well as in client engagement. You may also have experience in line management, potentially some experience in bidding to support growth in an exciting team, and have previous experience in a similar role.

Essential:

  • Air traffic forecasting knowledge and experience in aviation or rail / ports.
  • Experience and track record in describing risks and suitability as well as knowledge of air market historical and planned development at a global, regional and local level.
  • The right to work in the UK.

  • Commercial experience in the aviation industry, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent transferrable skills from another relevant industry.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Advanced user of Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Good presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • A methodical and numerical approach to problem solving and critical thinking.

Desirable:

  • Willingness to travel and work overseas (sometimes at short notice) as required for project work.
  • A can-do attitude.
  • The willingness to undertake tasks that are critical to the success of the projects.
  • The ability to engage as part of a multi-disciplinary team and a diverse range of projects.
  • Knowledge of Power BI.
  • Ability to code in programming languages including, but not limited to, R and Python as well as SQL.
  • Ability to work independently and confidently, while guiding and training others.
