Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal Construction Manager to play a pivotal leadership role in advancing our Construction Management (CM) and Construction Administration (CA) capabilities across Central Canada, with a primary focus on the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).

This is a strategic growth leadership position, responsible for driving the positioning, capture, and successful delivery of major Project Management/Construction Management (PM/CM) opportunities. The role will be instrumental in expanding Mott MacDonald’s market presence, strengthening client relationships, and scaling our CM/CA service offering in alignment with our broader Canadian growth strategy.

  • Lead the identification, pursuit, capture, and successful delivery of major Project Management/Construction Management (PM/CM) opportunities across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) and broader Canadian market.
  • Develop and execute a strategic growth plan for Construction Management (CM) and Construction Administration (CA) services, supporting Mott MacDonald’s expansion across transit, land development, municipal infrastructure, and other key sectors.
  • Strengthen Mott MacDonald's market presence by building trusted client relationships, expanding strategic partnerships, and positioning the organization as a leader in complex infrastructure delivery.
  • Establish, standardize, and scale a nationally consistent Construction Management and Contract Administration service offering, embedding best practices, innovation, and delivery excellence across projects.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team by driving talent acquisition, succession planning, workforce development, employee engagement, and leadership growth.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and high performance, ensuring alignment with business objectives and client expectations.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to optimize project delivery processes, resource allocation, and workflows while maximizing productivity, efficiency, profitability, and service quality.
  • Provide executive oversight and leadership for complex, multidisciplinary construction and infrastructure programs from procurement through project closeout.
  • Champion excellence in health, safety, quality, schedule, budget, and risk management to ensure successful project outcomes and client satisfaction.
  • Oversee portfolio performance across multiple concurrent projects, proactively managing commercial results, operational efficiency, contractual obligations, and business risks.
  • Act as a senior client advisor, developing and maintaining strong relationships with public and private sector clients to support repeat business and long-term strategic growth.

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

  • 20+ years of construction delivery experience on major infrastructure projects, including municipal water and wastewater conveyance, rail and transit, road/highway, and aviation.
  • Proven track record delivering projects using design-build, and alternative delivery models with public sector clients.
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or related field or other relevant post-secondary certifications or designations.
  • Strong leadership experience building and developing high-performing teams within a construction management environment.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, market positioning, teaming strategies, and proposal development and negotiations.
  • Established relationships with key contractor organizations, provincial agencies, and municipal clients, with the ability to leverage these networks into a strong project pipeline.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships and navigating complex project environments.
  • Goal-oriented with a strong drive to pursue, win, and successfully deliver work.
  • Proficiency with project and construction management tools, including Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe, and Bluebeam.
