About the business unit


The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.

About the Role:

The Transmission & Distribution division is seeking a Principal Overhead Line Engineer to join our team in delivering major projects globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert OHL engineering advice and input across various projects.
  • Ensure designs adhere to relevant legislation, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct specialized studies, including feasibility studies, plan and profile drawings, sag-tension analysis, OHL routing, and technical reports.
  • Prepare and review specification

Candidate specification

  • Degree qualification in Electrical/Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent;
  • Experience in an OHL engineering environment including scheme and project / design delivery;
  • Good working knowledge of OHL Standards and Codes of Practice;
  • Experience in the use of engineering design software to develop designs;
  • Ability to promote a high standard of professionalism, effective communication and personal integrity within the design team;
  • Mentor and support junior staff;
  • Proactive, and proficient in working with clients both internally and externally;
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience using OHL engineering software. Example PLS CADD or PLS Tower.
  • Deliver engineering projects in accordance with client requirements and in line with company and industry best practice;
  • Ability to chair meetings, communicate to project team and produce reports; (SENIOR POSITIONS ONLY)
  • Provide technical input into proposals.
