Job Description

Location/s: Hong Kong
Recruiter contact: Maggie Chan
Hiring manager contact: YK Li
Employment Type: Contingent - Independent consultant

At Mott MacDonald, we trust our brilliant people to do brilliant things. As one of the world’s largest employee‑owned consultancies, we deliver exceptional outcomes across transport and buildings that shape better cities and communities.

We’re seeking a BIM/CAD Draughtsperson to help produce high‑quality models and drawings for multidisciplinary projects — from rail corridors, roads, bridges and stations to commercial, public and residential buildings. You’ll work with project managers, engineers and architects to develop coordinated models and deliver drawing packages to Hong Kong standards, supporting bids and live delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Model authoring & drafting: Produce and maintain coordinated BIM models and 2D/3D drawings across civil, structural and architectural disciplines (Autodesk AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks; Bentley MicroStation/OpenBuildings as applicable).
  • Sheet production: Prepare general arrangement drawings, sections, elevations, details, schedules and quantities to project and client standards.
  • Standards & QA: Apply ISO 19650, CIC BIM standards and Hong Kong authority requirements (HyD, BD, ArchSD, EMSD, WSD), ensuring robust model/drawing control, naming, metadata and revisions.
  • Coordination: Participate in design coordination (clash detection, issue tracking), collaborate with engineers/architects, and resolve model/drawing queries promptly.
  • Common Data Environment (CDE): Work within project CDEs (e.g., ACC/BIM 360, ProjectWise), maintain file structure, version control and transmittals.
  • BIM execution: Contribute to BIM Execution Plans and Technology Plans; follow agreed workflows for federated models, model exchange and deliverables.
  • Bid support: Assist bid teams with BIM deliverable lists, sample sheets and model snippets for proposals.
  • Safety & integrity: Uphold our health, safety, ethics and quality commitments in every aspect of delivery

Specifications:

  • Diploma/Higher Diploma in civil/structural/architectural or building disciplines, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–8 years’ drafting/BIM experience in transport (rail/road/bridge/aviation) and/or buildings projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D and Navisworks; familiarity with MicroStation/OpenBuildings desirable.
  • Solid understanding of Hong Kong codes/standards and document control practices; experience working within a CDE and following BEPs.
  • Strong attention to detail, methodical approach to QA/QC, ability to meet deadlines across multiple packages.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience on MTR, HyD, ArchSD or private‑sector building projects in Hong Kong.
  • CIC BIM certification (Technician/Manager) or progress toward accreditation.
  • Ability to produce quantity take‑offs/schedules directly from models; experience with InfraWorks/OpenRoads is a plus.
  • Language: Working proficiency in English and Cantonese; Mandarin an advantage.
