About the business unit
The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.
Overview of the role
Our team in Sofia has an opportunity for a Structural BIM Engineer as part of our civil engineering and architectural design practice. You will provide technical expertise in projects related to information management, BIM, and overall design activities. You will work in a collaborative and international environment to help resolve real-world challenges in the wider Energy and Nuclear sector.
As part of the BIM practice, you will be engaged in activities related to your continuous professional development, and you will be expected to actively participate in knowledge and experience sharing sessions with your peers and more experienced engineers. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the BIM engineering team through following and integrating digital delivery innovation, participating in Early Career Professionals and various practice networks.
Technical responsibilities
- Develop design solutions and digital information in line with BIM execution plans on multidisciplinary projects
- Coordinate BIM activities as part of multidisciplinary design teams
- Contribute to the setup and administration of project environments in Autodesk Construction Cloud, implement ISO 19650 principles for information management, implement Quality Assurance workflows, contribute to the development of federated models, and conduct clash detection with detailed reporting
- Design and detailing of structural members, as well as development of BIM models of various level of development and CAD drawings
- Organise and complete checking and verification activities of BIM data in line with relevant quality assurance procedures
- Contribute to the development and optimization of digital tools for the automation of design and analysis process
Business development and management responsibilities:
- Contribute to the preparation of technical proposals and bid documents for new project opportunities
- Contribute to development of project case studies and presentations to promote the team’s expertise internally within the MML Group and externally through direct communication to clients and participation in international conferences and forums
- Participate actively in knowledge sharing sessions and digital delivery campaigns
- Contribute to internal and client-facing technical meetings, which may also involve international travel
Candidate specification
Essential:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in structural engineering
- Experience with BIM software such as REVIT or similar
- Knowledge and experience with structural design and detailing
- Experience in applying quality assurance procedures
- Ability to work independently in multi-disciplinary projects
- Ability to work with people to achieve effective coordination and smooth project delivery
- Ability to communicate effectively in line with our ethics policy
- Proficiency in English at a minimum of level B2, along with specific relevant technical terminology
- Understanding of design codes, standards, criteria, and design execution pertinent to civil and structural engineering
Desirable:
- Experience in structural analysis
- Knowledge and experience with civil design and detailing
- Experience with Civil 3D BIM software
- Programming skills / automation of modelling and processing
- Keen interest in digital construction and digital technology
