Mott Macdonald Bentley (MMB) is the design and build unit of global engineering consultancy Mott Macdonald. We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Civil Engineer to help support us in delivering work within our United Utilities framework.

MMB are among one of seven partners that will support United Utilities to deliver £3bn worth of upgrades to critical infrastructure assets including water and wastewater treatment sites, pumping stations and reservoirs within the North West during the AMP8 period

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will work closely with the engineering teams to deliver water, wastewater treatment and network projects, from feasibility through to detailed design stages. You will also provide technical guidance and coordination to our design teams throughout the lifecycle of design, ensuring our expertise is utilised and embedded into our designs.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering Civil design services on a range of projects with a focus on time, cost, quality - right first time!
  • Producing and reviewing engineering calculations, specifications, drawings and reports
  • Engaging with the Client, managing relationships and adopting a One-Team approach to support them in achieving their aims
  • Mentoring more junior colleagues. Providing technical guidance and advice on best practice in civil design to others
  • Working collaboratively across disciplines to ensure the efficient delivery of projects within the programme
  • Providing quality assurance of others' work by undertaking check/review functions.
  • You will work closely and collaboratively with the construction team and supply chain to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout the design stages, into construction and post project review.
  • Applying both innovative and standard designs to project problems.
  • Be able to appropriately challenge client specifications and present and defend solutions to complex problems

What you can offer:

  • Qualified to degree level and professionally qualified as IEng / CEng with the ICE or similar Institution
  • Proven track-record in providing outline design, detailed design and construction support services relevant to the water/wastewater sector
  • You will have experience working in a multi-disciplinary team where you are able to take initiative and work independently
  • Need to have good working knowledge of industry best practice for civil engineering designs.

Mott MacDonald Bentley is a joint venture business, established in 1999 between civil engineering contractor JN Bentley and global management consultancy, Mott MacDonald.

Mott MacDonald Bentley offers fully integrated design and build services to its clients, combining the contracting expertise of JN Bentley and the design specialisms of Mott MacDonald.

This role is employed by Mott MacDonald but will involve working across the joint venture business, both with Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley colleagues.
