About the business unit

We help conceive, drive, and implement transport solutions for cities, regions, and asset owners/operators around the globe. From preparing the business case and​ advising on related issues - such as revenue, procurement, and environmental legislation - to delivering the completed infrastructure and helping maintain it. Our planning, engineering, environmental and management skills cover the whole project cycle. We play a major role in developing and delivering the Global Transport Sector Strategy.

Overview of role

As part of your role, you are likely to get involved with the following tasks:

  • Travel within the UK or overseas
  • Be responsible for the management and delivery of technical advisory projects covering aspects of airport masterplans & engineering designs, construction & operations monitoring, CAPEX, REPEX and OPEX
  • Act as technical lead in the delivery and coordination of airport planning and design elements including airside, landside and supply systems
  • Assess existing conditions and develop relevant planning and design requirements for airport infrastructure based on project specifics
  • Review proposed airport development plans, including the implementation and construction sequence
  • Manage clients, subconsultants and design teams
  • Act as technical lead in preparing bids/proposals
  • Candidate must be able to travel frequently within the UK and Internationally for site visits.
  • Candidate to be based in our Croydon office (UK) or Madrid (Spain).

Candidate Specification

We are looking for a flexible and motivated professional with experience and a genuine passion for the aviation industry.

To apply for this position, you must have the following:

  • A degree in civil engineering or a degree that includes elements of Civil Engineering
  • Be professionally qualified as a Member of a recognised Engineering Institution such as the Institution of Civil Engineers or equivalent
  • Significant experience covering airport planning and design; and construction site experience
  • Fluency in English – knowledge of other languages will be valued as an advantage
  • Demonstrable professional experience in multiple technical fields within airport planning and design (airfield & apron, operations, terminal, landside, utilities, airspace, etc.) is expected and required together with respective design standards such as FAA design of airfield pavements and ICAO Annex 14
  • Demonstrable professional experience in Airport Engineering Design in one or more technical field(s) within Civil Engineering: pavement design, drainage design, highways and/or utilities design. is expected and required
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering and being part of technical advisory projects for airport assets at international level

We are looking for candidates with the following characteristics:

  • Proactive and with a learning mindset
  • Foster teamwork and collaboration with others as part of a multi-disciplinary team and a diverse range of projects
  • Methodical problem solver with critical thinking, with the ability to work efficiently and independently
  • Ability to organise, manage and supervise from small, medium projects to large workstreams, including resources across various disciplines
  • Experience in project and programme management with contractual knowledge and the ability deliver commercially successful projects
  • Ability to manage and supervise project teams, including the ability to train, mentor and support junior staff in developing new skills
  • An ability to work under a flexible (agile) working arrangement both in office and remotely
  • Good verbal communication, written communication and presentation skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with and present work to colleagues and clients
  • Attention to detail, being able to lead and undertake technical reviews, oversee and/or undertake tasks for the production of project deliverables including reports, drawings and presentations
  • Proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Capable in the use of AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Experienced with other software including Microsoft Project, Primavera P6 Program, AviPlan and/or 3D visualisation tools will be favourably considered
