Role overview/job purpose
We are looking for an experienced content manager to join our newly expanding content team and take responsibility for developing content for our own corporate channels.
Reporting to the Managing Editor and collaborating closely with the External Communications and Press Manager, you will support the development and execution of the content plan and schedule. You should relish the challenge of developing high-quality high-impact content, and bringing stories to life in a credible, creative and engaging way. You will need to be an excellent collaborator who can confidently lead conversations and interviews with a variety of stakeholders and be a great team player.
Job description
- Supporting the Managing Editor in developing and executing on the content plan, and ensuring accurate visibility of the regions content pipeline.
- Leading the ideation and planning of content for own channels across region-wide and Unit-specific areas.
- Ideating and creating priority/hero content assets, such as key reports, guides, thought leadership articles, people profiles and case studies, etc.
- Effective and efficient delivery of regular rhythm of ‘business as usual’ content assets. Ideating, researching and creating campaign-focussed content, from thought leadership articles and op eds, to video scripts and podcasts, etc.
- Creating and reviewing award submissions, materials and communications.
- Crafting content for VIP internal stakeholders such as presentation or video speaker notes, social media
- posts etc.
- Ensuring that the corporate brand, tone of voice and technical excellence standards are properly represented in all content and meeting all relevant aspects of the Group service level agreement (SLA).
- Ensure that tools and data are effectively used to shape high performing impactful content.
- Line management of marketing copy writer, providing support, development and encouragement to
- enable them to be at their best.
- As a manager within the marketing function, contributing to ensure the overall success of the marketing function across the region, and having strong relationships across the Group marketing function and regional counterparts where relevant.
Person specification
Essential
- First and foremost be a highly experienced communicator with good experience in a senior position leading a variety of editorial and copy outputs.
- Proven ability to research topics and conduct interviews, and to quickly condense and clarify complex ideas into concise, easy-to-understand highly engaging copy.
- Natural storyteller with a demonstratable track record in the production of high-impact content within a busy department.
- Experienced in both short and long form content, and both journalistic and marketing-led content types.
- Confident in giving and taking briefs, developing synopses, and reviewing/editing the work of others as well as producing your own content.
- Love of words and creative writing with a strong command of written English language
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and proof checked content.
- Highly organised with demonstrable project management skills, and be able to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously.
- Outstanding collaborator able to form trusted relationships, and the ability to welcome different perspectives, with empathy for the positions of others.
Desired
- Marketing, communication or related degree, or other marketing / communication qualification from an appropriate body.
- Some understanding of consultancy, engineering, and/or the built environment and some familiarity with critical industry issues.
- Some experience in people management and know how to create an enjoyable team environment and support people to be themselves and be at their best.
- Keen interest in developing your own skills, as well as the skills of others.
