Job Profile


This is an exciting opportunity to support the Global Delivery Services (GDS) Leadership to continue our drive for excellence and innovation through the further development of our Health and Safety knowledge and culture. We are looking for someone from engineering background who has a deep of understanding of the design and construction of significant engineering projects.

The role is essential to our business in assessing not only compliance with our system and external standards, but also identifying how we can improve what we do. It is an opportunity to make a difference to how we work on our projects and bring that value to the rest of the Group.

Job Description
Reporting to the Unit Leadership team through the Unit Safety Manger you will be accountable for:

  • Reporting to the Unit Leadership Team on H&S performance, including study of trends and issues arising from incident reports, audits and the dissemination of lessons learned as appropriate.
  • Working in collaboration with the Unit Safety Manager prepare and implement the Unit Health and Safety Plan in line with Group and Unit requirements to drive continuous improvement across the Unit and Divisions
  • Formally reporting to the Unit Leadership to progress of the Unit Health and Safety Plan and key activities programmed for the following quarter.
  • Keeping up to date with developments in relevant legislation and practice, and act upon any changes accordingly
  • Promoting and encouraging a lively and open safety culture across all countries in the Unit.
  • Providing effective and timely health & safety advice and information for staff and managers in the Unit to increase the health and safety knowledge and understanding of all colleagues within GDS
  • Interfacing with other divisions/unit represented our offices or on our projects as appropriate.
  • Representing GDS at Regional and Group Safety Manager Meetings
  • Monitoring and closing out all GDS related Health and Safety notifications e.g. Positive Interventions. Liaising with the Unit Health and Safety Manager, other Units, our internal clients to ensure actions are in line with best practice and in line with required legislation.
  • Preparing monthly reports which give a comprehensive view on reporting, actions and interventions that are required.
  • Ensuring any serious incidents are raised to the relevant stakeholders immediately and relevant processes followed.
  • Work collaboratively with other Health and Safety Managers across the Group and bring learning into GDS
  • Undertaking as required project and office audits; deliver safety training and incident investigations.
  • Leading by example on all aspects of Health, Safety and Wellbeing
  • Establish, nurture and mentor GDS colleagues so that Safe By Design and practical approach to constructability is embedded within all our activities.

Candidate will possess the following key attributes:

  • Strong experience of both design and construction projects
  • Has a collaborative mindset that can work with all GDS and colleagues across the Group.
  • Is a clear and effective communicator both written and orally and can translate complex issues into readily understood actions and solutions.
  • Has worked for a broad range of projects across the construction sector
